IMG customers have noted that the customer service is attentive both before and during their trips, especially when they need to modify their policies. Some customers have experienced difficulties with the online claims portal and uploading documents. However, IMG has recently improved its claims process to make it more efficient and transparent for customers.
Fortunately there was no need to file a claim. I did call customer service before the trip to extend coverage at the beginning of my travels by one day. It went smoothly.
Did not need to utilize
IMG is very thorough, as they should be, and require all pertinent documentation regarding claims. Once that is provided to them they respond in a reasonable amount of time.
My luggage was delayed for a day and a half while in Mexico City over New Year’s Eve. I was forced to purchase necessities. The only way to get to the stores that sold these necessities was to travel my taxi. The taxi drivers did not provide receipts for the travel.
IMG disallowed my request of $37 for taxi travel because of the lack of receipts.
I’m very disappointed with IMG’s lack of understanding.
What is pre-departure experience?
Luggage was delayed about 22 hours. Filed claim for delay of luggage as the policy shows coverage of $300 per person.

Not satisfied, but understand the result. My luggage was delayed during the return, therefore I thought I would get paid the loss amount for delay of luggage. My delay of luggage was at the end of the trip and the insurance company will only pay if the loss is at the beginning of the trip. The way I looked at the insurance was, there would be coverage for loss ‘during the entire trip’, not just at the beginning. My original interpretation is the trip insurance should cover your entire trip and the trip doesn’t end until I am back home with all property intact. I know now for future trips.

The customer service agent I spoke with when I was looking to purchase insurance was so nice and helpful. The process was very easy and straightforward. I unfortunately couldn’t go on my trip due to medical reasons and getting a hold of someone was also easy. I submitted my claim and hope the rest of the process goes just as well!

Required emergency surgery and a very brief hospital stay while in South Africa.
Paid everything on our credit card and submitted all receipts, forms etc.
A week later received an email saying we need another form physically signed by the doctor, and further proof of payment information for the bills.
Now 4 weeks later and no update despite making a calls to the claims department and emails sent regarding the claim.
So far we are now almost 6 weeks since claim submission and no information from IMG. Very disappointing.

Square mouth zero complaints really helped. My claim was processed, the communication from IMG along the way was limited and a little bit more communication would have been useful
