IMG customers have noted that the customer service is attentive both before and during their trips, especially when they need to modify their policies. Purchasing the travel insurance was an easy process and when I spoke with customer service to increase the amount of insurance I needed they were very helpful and friendly.
Almost everything is automated on Squaremouth.com. It was easy to compare policies and to find the travel insurance. However, I would like to have a live, real person to communicate with if necessary. Instead, Squaremouth points you to the actual insurer to resolve problems. I would like to see Squaremouth do more as the broker. So, I am rating my experience as average (3 stars).
Departure originally scheduled in Sept. Contacted at end of Aug after death of father in law. It is end of Dec and we are still waiting to hear back about reimbursement for what should be a cut and dry case.
Experience to date with IMG has been entirely unsatisfactory.
On our cruise September 9 - September 19, 2024 my husband James Alterbaum became ill, requiring a brief visit to a local hospital in Denmark and several treatments in the Oceania medical office. Total cost for medical treatments and services was $11435.94. I initiated the claim on October 3, 2024 and paid the full amount on my credit card later that month. IMG acknowledged receipt of the claim on October 3 and sent a few emails after that asking for more information which I promptly answered. I have not heard from them since the last acknowledgement on Oct. 31. I called them several times after that and their Customer Service Dept. pretty much blew me off. "It takes 5-7 more days". "It takes another 30 days." "Wait 60 days." etc.
Be advised that if I don't get a response from them this week I will initiate legal remedies, both directly, adminstratively, and regulatory against IMG and related services.
I know your rates are based partly in n age. My travel buddy is 4 years younger and her policy-the same as mine -is much cheaper even though her health is not as good as mine. I wish rates were more uniform within an age group.
However I look for coverage—mainly primary and evacuation if a major health event should occur. I find your offerings are more comprehensive in that regard than what is offered by the company with which I am traveling.

I got this policy because it covered illness with dogs. The person who sold me the policy seemed knowledgeable. Only after getting the policy did I read reviews that the insurance company did not do a good job with incoming claims. The worried me so much, but I had already bought the policy.
