IMG customers have noted that the customer service is attentive both before and during their trips, especially when they need to modify their policies. Some customers have experienced difficulties with the online claims portal and uploading documents. However, IMG has recently improved its claims process to make it more efficient and transparent for customers.
I needed to make a change to the travel insurance. So, I went to the Squaremouth website to see if I could make the change there. The answer to this is no. Changes cannot be made online per the Squremouth website. I had to call IMG directly as Squaremouth did not offer this service either.
I needed to change the return date of my trip. I had initially provided the wrong return date. So, following the instructions from the Squaremouth website, I called IMG. I was impressed that the call was immediately answered by a real person. The telephone agent I spoke with was very polite and changed the return date on my policy very quickly and emailed me a confirmation. I then checked online to see if the changes had shown up on the policy and the change in return date did show up online.
I did not need to make any claims. So, I cannot comment on how this was handled. I just wish that Squaremouth who is a middleman playing the role as broker for the insurance would have assisted with this other thant tell me to call IMG.
Some of the requirements were a little over the top. I had to pay the doctor in Italy with Euros. IMG asked how I got the euros and they wanted to see my withdrawals and/or receipts for the euros. Fortunately, they did pay me back.
I file.small claim euth probider due tobtravel delay changes. I am still waiting for resolution.

Original claim was denied w/o proper review. Appeal is now taking over 60 days and no decision.
They denied claim because we got a discount on a new booking, but that requires us to completely pay for another trip. They gave us nothing for the trip we were on
IMG customer service was helpful when we decided a few months before our trip started, to extend the number of days we would be gone. Then they helped again when we decided to book a few more non-refundable activities to help with adding additional coverage.
I am in the process of filing a Trip Interruption Claim. I started the claim using the IMG portal, spending HOURS uploading documents only for them to disappear from my saved claim a few days later. I have spoken to the customer service reps at IMG and they are terrible. Impolite, uninformed and unhelpful. I did speak withe one competent and helpful rep who told me that the IMG online claim system is unreliable and documents are often lost. He emailed me a PDF form to complete manually. This is ridiculous.
I will be completing the claim over the next few weeks, likely manually and scanning and emailing.
So far, based on my initital contact with IMG, i would NEVER use them again NOR would I recommend them to anyone.

Submitting a claim with IMG was a terrible experience.
1. Online experience: the IMG website directed me to submit my claim on line. The online portal was easy to access and the option to save your claim and return was very important. I had a large and complicated claim and needed time to get all of the paperwork together. I spent several hours adding the documents to the claim and saved it. I then returned a few days later and it was all gone. This happened several times.
2. Customer service: The quality and professionalism were terrible. They didn't know what they were talking about and each CS person would contradict the other. It was impossible to elevate to a supervisor and it was impossible to actually have a call with anyone who knew anything about the terms of filing a claim or the online system. After a month of disasters, I was told my a CS rep that the online portal didn't really work and I needed to fill out the claim manually and then fax or mail to them! One month to be told this. The CS people were rude and condescending and as they are clearly working from home, I could hear children and pets in the background. I learned their technique - they listen to your question, then ask if it's ok to be placed on hold so they can research?? and then they return many minutes later with nothing to say, or a big lie they just made up.
3. My insurance and claim were for trip interruption. After my emergency trip back to the USA, I was denied reimbursement for the additional flight to get me back to Africa to finish my work. The flight - I fly business class - was the most expensive part of the trip. I disputed this finding and have heard from no one.
I will never use that company again, nor yours.
This is my first major insurance claim in my life and it was terrible.
I was unable to provide a receipt for a return trip from the Doctor we saw in Salerno, Italy.
I did have the receipt for the trip to the Doctor and pharmacy but the cab took off before I received the receipt for the return trip.
I explained the situation, but it fell on deaf ears.
Everyone I spoke with was polite, professional and knowledgeable .
WE WERE UNABLE TO TRAVEL. PLEASE LET ME KNOW HOW LONG DO WE HAVE TO USE THIS POLICY OR CAN WE BE REFUNDED.
