Having travel insurance is peace of mind. There were no health problems on this trip, but one never knows. It's responsible traveling to buy a policy.
Customer service was helpful when I called completely stressed out from a canceled night flight with 6 teenagers & no luggage. I just printed my paperwork to file a claim.
It was reassuring speaking with the sales rep on the pre-trip. I was made are of the policy's benefits, limitations, and other fine prints. I felt each reps I have spoken with were knowledgeable, sincere, and reassuring. When I received the hard copy of the policy, it was exactly what was told to me via phone. I would recommend this company and its products.
My husband and I filed a claim with Tin Leg for cost of medical services and the portion of our trip that we had to cancel due to illness. They paid for the doctor visitm but did not pay the amount that we prepaid for the tour we missed. They said that the doctor did not specify that we not take the tour. However, we feel that is a Catch-22 situation since we had to miss the tour to see the doctor for our illness in the first place. I have called Tin Leg and was referred to Kathy Haught. I have called and left messages, but she has not returned my calls. They received 3 stars because they at least paid for the medical services, but I would have appreciated some service regarding the denied portion of our claim.
I didn't have to submit a claim, but I did contact customer service to increase my coverage. Everything was handled quickly and accurately.
It was comforting to know we had a policy if anything went wrong - but were glad we didn't need it!
The agent I spoke with was helpful and informative. He told me what paperwork (letter from doctor, etc) I would need to support my claim. This was much easier to obtain while still on our trip than it would have been to ask for after we returned home.
Further comment will need to wait until after we have filed and settled our claim.
