I had spent quite a bit of time trying to check on the status of a claim submitted for a Tin Leg insurance policy. The claims were being handled by Broadspire. It shouldn't have taken nearly so long to reject the claim. They eventually sent a letter with the specific policies that they would pay out under and why my claim didn't qualify. It seems like that could have been handled in less than thirteen weeks that it took from submitting my claim to getting the rejection letter.

I also wonder whether they backdated their letters to hiding their poor processing performance from other management. I finally received a letter after sometime after Feb 28. I was on a trip from March 1 to March 6, and only had it in the mail after that. But the letter was dated Feb 15. It took at least 14 days for it to get from their office to be delivered? Really?? It is also a bit surprising giving that on Feb 22 I had yet again inquired about the status. And received an email back from Feb 23, saying that submissions looked complete and that she would "work today to get this on my managers desk for review purposes so I can finalize things for you." Seems like a bit of an odd response if the letter had been prepared and sent a week before that! It could also be nothing as bad as purposely backdating but simply poor systems, or taking an extra week from printing the response to sending out. Those are not particular favorable reasons either.

The trip was canceled by the provider, I didn’t cancel the trip. For this reason, I feel that at least some part of the insurance fee should be returned or credited against another trip. Because the trip was canceled by the provider, you were not exposed to any risk and, in my opinion, had nothing to insure. I have tried contacting you twice about this matter, but have not gotten a response.

    Review Updated: 03/28/2022

Our trip was canceled by the cruise line because of Covid. Tin Leg has given us credit on the travel insurance to use on another trip in the future. The agents at Tin Leg were very understanding, and worked hard to explain everything to me, and I am very satisfied with the outcome.

At no extra cost the policy was extended by one day as we had to leave a day early due to airline flight cancellation due to incoming icy weather. Tin Leg was easy to work with.

My claim has been sent along to someone to review - but not until 2 days ago...and it was received on February 14th. Pretty slow for a claim with a doctor's statement attached. Still waiting to hear

Tin Leg send 4 different emails asking for supporting documentation, phone interview, when 1 to 2 emails could of done the job. It was like they were trying to wear me done for a measly $125 dollars. Never use them again

My claim is still in process, which it has been for more than 6 weeks with no resolution. I have had to initiate all communication with Tin Leg then Broadspire to get any status on the claim. When I call, the rep is cordial and says a message will be sent to the next rep in line who will contact me usually by the end of the day. Days go by and no follow up from Tin Leg or Broadspire. I feel as though Tin Leg/Broadspire agents are just trying to wear me down so I get frustrated enough to give up. Email communication from Tim Leg saying the claim was being transferred to Broadspire on January 14, 2022, confirming receipt of necessary documentation said review would take up to 5 business days. That didn't happen. Next communication on January 26, 2022, from Broadspire confirming receipt of all necessary documents said review would take 2-4 days. February 7, I emailed about status. No one responded. On February 14, 2022, I asked for the person handling my case, Mark Bent, to call me directly with a status. He did call and said the amount of the claim was more than he is authorized to approve, so it had to go to his manager, Candice Tate. Mark said he would do his review that day and send it to Candice the next day for review, which would take 3-5 days. He would follow up with me via email regarding status within the 3-5 days. He said it might not take 3-5 days, but he wanted to give a cushion because of volume. It is now 6 days, and no one has contacted me. Since failing the claim, I have been calling and emailing (after the time frames I was told to wait) for status/decision, and no person in authority has communicated with me directly. Today, I left voice messages for Mark Bent and Candice Tate.
I expected better service from Squaremouth/Tin Leg. I didn't choose Broadspire.
