Tin Leg customers praise the provider’s customer service, especially when making changes to their coverage or trip details. However, some have expressed frustration with the claims process, particularly regarding the amount of documentation required.
I called your company to ask about making a claim and I was told by the agent that my trip had ended and I therefore had no possibility of making a claim unless it was for "additional expenses." I was too sick to call until a few days had elapsed.
My trip to India via Frankfurt was great. My return trip was awful. My flight was late so I missed my connection, I was put on a different airline without being asked if it was what I wanted, I was bumped down from business class to coach, despite having paid for Business for my entire trip, I have an artificial knee and I explained very politely that I would be unable to fly cabin for 10 hours. The rush to get to the connecting flight and back to the US didn't allow for a phone call.
I have seen my Chiropractor and Physical Therapist since returning as a result of the difficult travel conditions on my return home. I became ill on my second day home. I am also 73 years old.
When I talked to your agent I was given no information that was helpful. She said I could not claim anything since there were no out of pocket expenses.
I didn't file a claim because your agent told me that there was nothing to claim. I would have thought with a $477 insurance tab for a 3 week-long business class trip that there might have been some kind of compensation for over 12 hour late arrival and being bumped down to coach for a flight across the country.
We were sorry to hear about the difficult end to your trip and the physical toll it took on you.
While our policies are strictly designed to reimburse specific out-of-pocket financial expenses incurred during travel, we understand that the frustration of a flight downgrade and a long delay is significant. We have shared your feedback with our team to improve how we communicate these policy limitations to our customers.
We appreciate your business and sincerely hope you are feeling better.
Knowledgeable and very nice staff every time we interacted with them. Would not hesitate to go with them again.
The purchasing of plan was good, price competitive was good.
Will be filling a claim so can’t comment yet on how that goes
We tried to purchase all insurance for myself, my sister and her husband and learned it was by household. After booking mine, I was concerned the policies weren't linked and we were traveling together. We had to call back to link our travel insurance.
TinLeg denied my legit claim and based on the BBB complaints and trust pilot reviews it is clear TinLeg is doing this for a lot of legit claims. Scammer insurance company all the way down. Easy to buy a policy that is actually useless insurance.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. Your claim was denied because your policy requires a strike of a common carrier to cause a complete cessation of travel services for at least 48 consecutive hours to be a covered event. Based on the documentation reviewed, the strike impacting your carrier lasted 24 hours on December 11, 2025, which does not meet the 48-hour requirement outlined in your policy language. We regret that your claim was not resolved as you hoped. For further clarification, please contact your assigned claim adjuster via email.
We had good experience with Tin Leg Insurance when travelling.
My husband had severe pain in his side half way through the cruise. We went to Medical and not wanting to go to a Jamaican hospital for a CT scan the medical staff treated the pain as a kidney stone. For 3 days til the end of the cruise, he went to medical for a 1 hr IV of pain and antibiotic medicine. After 1st treatment, pain subsided immensely and he was able to enjoy the rest of the cruise but could no longer drink because of medicine. The ship credited us the remainder costs of the drink package including mine!!!! That sucked!!!
This could have gone alot worse. I am very happy with the way Tin Leg paid the medical costs. Sent in the information they requested along with all the paperwork from Medical which was quite extensive. This was a primary pay policy. In less than a week the claim was approved! Thank you very much!

Thank you so much for the thoughtful review! We're glad to hear everything went smoothly with TinLeg, and we hope your husband is recovering well.
Very pleased with the service. Have used the service for multiple trips. Will continue to use Tin Leg.
Before filing the claim I called Tin Leg and discussed the situation that occurred on my trip to see if it even pertained to the coverage I had purchased from them (cost of $1,737.12) I was told that it sounded like it did so I did all of the steps requested for them to review the situation that occurred. I have no problem with the denial I received but I could have saved a lot of time not going through the lengthy collection & submission of the details. I was trying to avoid that by calling first (especially since I was also visiting my mom in the hospital). I called Tin Leg on Jan. 5, finished submitting everything on Jan. 10, and my mom passed away on Jan. 12. I would have preferred to spend that time with my mom, not wasting it on a claim. In any event, the part that is leading me to even do this review is the language in one of the paragraphs in the denial letter. It was insulting to me and left me feeling like Tin Leg’s opinion of me for submitting the claim for review was seen as a negative against me, a judgement of my integrity really. I would have never gone ahead with the claim if the person I spoke with on the phone had told me up front it didn’t qualify. Besides this trip, I have used Tin Leg in the past, but I highly doubt I will in the future.
Please accept our deepest condolences on the passing of your mother.
Following a secondary review, we have identified an oversight and confirmed coverage for a $100.00 Travel Inconvenience benefit. We are finalizing your claim with priority and will have this payment issued within the next few days. We value your past loyalty and hope you will consider Tin Leg for your future travel needs.
We didn’t have to file a claim, which is great, but we felt good knowing we had the protection.
