Tin Leg customers praise the provider’s customer service, especially when making changes to their coverage or trip details. However, some have expressed frustration with the claims process, particularly regarding the amount of documentation required.
Very easy to get rates, know what you are receiving in terms of coverage, and then adjust coverage as our plans changed.
So far the claim process is abysmal. We purchased the policy in line with the requirements and yet they insist on providing medical records to establish a pre-existing condition. The claim involves my mother-in-law who, when we purchased the policy was still in pretty good shape. She had dementia. Before my spouse could leave on the trip her mother's condition deteriorated and she was admitted to hospice. At that point it became impossible for my spouse to leave on the trip as she was her mother's primary caregiver and there was no other family available.
The insurance company employees apparently are ignorant about long-term care, hospice care, and that those records are not comparable to a hospital stay. We believe they are making the process difficult in the hope that the claim will be abandoned. My mother-in-law died a few days after our original return date. So far the insurance company's employees seem to find something wrong with the material we have compiled from the facility and hospice and the claim remains unresolved.
My spouse and I are both lawyers and not inclined to fold our tents rather than fight for what we paid to receive. I will NEVER purchase a policy from this insurer again.
They provided clear instructions and informed me clearly of needed information.

In the three calls made to Tin Leg, each call was promptly answered by a live Tin Leg representative. Surprisingly I did not have to go through a slew of menus to get to speak with someone.
My questions and requests concerning my travel insurance were handled efficiently.
Our cruise was extended due to weather. Tinleg covered our change in flight home as well as our meal at the airport. They did not cover the extra cost for parking nor boarding our dogs.
I will not be recommending or purchasing Tin Leg policies again. I had a straightforward flight delay of over 6 hours due to weather and my claim was denied. Prior to making alternate arrangements to return home I called Tin Leg to verify what the policy covered and was told that it would be covered under Trip Delay if the delay was longer than 6 hours. I submitted all the documentation (screenshots, weather screenshots, letter from Delta, etc ) and was told that it wasn't covered due to Delta saying it was a an air traffic control delay. That was due to not being able to fly planes through thunderstorms! They referenced other areas of the policy that wouldn't be relevant as all of them would require more than a 6 hour delay. They were referencing trip interruption insurance. I'm expecting this matter to be resolved as this is the whole point of travel insurance!
I did have a medical claim on this trip as well and that was approved correctly.

Finally got resolution but they made it very difficult and initially denied my claim for a straightforward travel delay due to severe weather. I had to appeal to get it resolved. Make sure you save all documentation as they will ask for every piece of it and even more!
