So far so good but the claim hasn’t been approved and it’s a legitimate claim covered by my plan, so we’ll see how you all handle it.

I'm disappointed with the claims process for these reasons: We had a missed connection on a multi-leg international trip due to the airline's back-up of flights. It was the airline's issue. So I submitted a claim based on missing one day of a monthlong rental (In Panama) and the accompaning cost of spending the day/night stranded in a city waiting until the following day to resume our flight path. TinLeg repeatedly asked for documentation on various things, which I understand. HOWEVER, on food items in the airport, TinLeg first asked for credit card screenshot confirmation of the food items purchased during our stranded day/night. I sent those in. THEN, they wanted paper receipt verification. I did not keep those receipts. Why did TinLeg ask first for the credit card screen shots, receive them, then follow up with paper receipts if those paper receipts were necessary to begin with? This leads me to feel as all insurance companies are suspected of: Blizzard the client with busy paperwork until they find something the client cannot produce, to then reject the claim. It wreaks of "delay, deny". And it wasn't like I was requesting hundreds in food repayment. It was about $50. We paid nearly $500 for this travel insurance. It's just disappointing because the food purchases were legit and I proved in their first request based on the credit card screenshots that we'd purchased them the day we were stranded.
Very helpful staff members of TinLeg explained all the details about the Travel Insurance Policy. We have used TinLeg travel policies earlier during our travels.

Very easy to apply for a claim and the online claim process is very interactive.
Easy to purchase.
The following explanation relates to Tin Leg request number 117481.
I had a medical issue that became significantly worse in the weeks leadiing up to my trip. On the advise of my doctor, I chose not to travel. This was on February 10, roughly 12 days prior to my departure date. I preliminarily contacted Tin Leg on February 7 to understand what the policies and procedures would be should I need to cancel. Then, given the short time frame between my decision and the departure date, I contacted the tour company and the airlines directly myself. In the case of the airline (Icelantic Air), I was refunded all my payment less a small service charge--refund was $1,340 and original cost was $1,367. I then contacted Nordic Visitor, the tour organizer. They also refunded me the majority of my payment. Roughly $504 of my payment was held by the tour company. The remainder, $4,331, was refunded to me. The money held by Nordic Visitor could be applied to another trip should I decide to travel with them in future. I have no plans at present to do so.
So the final cost to me of my cancellation was approxiately $27 for the airfare and $504 for the tour. And, of course the $694 paid to Tin Leg for the travel insurance that was, in the end, not used. I find it rather ironic that the insurance cost me more than the forfeited money when workng directly with the tour and airline companies. I will need to keep this in mind for future travels.
Would there be any value in completing a claim at this point?
I have used tin leg many times and I am happy with their products and service when making a claim
I never made a claim
I was able to file a claim online without difficulty and the claim was approved before I even returned home. The claim was for a dental issue and was paid in full.
Using the FGA emergency assistance was helpful, and they were responsive, but the Tin Leg local agent in Seville Spain was not at all helpful. It took four days for him to tell FGA that he couldn't obtain the needed medical records for my wife's hospitalization so that Tin Leg could authorize her surgery. I obtained them in a few hours, yet Tin Leg still did not authorize the surgery. Although this policy is sold as primary medical insurance, I had to pay out of pocket for all of her care. Fortunately I had the financial wherewithal to do that in this case. Had it been some other medical emergency I may not have had that ability, and Tin Leg was nowhere to be found! I am profoundly disappointed in Tin Leg's performance while we were in Spain in a very stressful situation.
Since we have been home the Tin Leg claim process has been very smooth so far. Their follow through on our claim, which I just submitted, remains to be seen.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. A local agent was dispatched to the hospital to obtain the necessary medical records to review the Guarantee of Payment (GOP). However, the hospital informed the agent that they could only provide the medical records directly to the patient and that they do not accept GOPs. We acknowledge the difficulties this situation caused and regret that your wife's surgery authorization process was not as smooth as expected. We have paid the claim and hope the claim process was a smooth one.
It's clear that this group is just looking to find any reason not to support traveler claims. I purchased in good faith, and my experience with squaremouth at this point is quite tarnished. This is why nobody respects insurance companies.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. Your claim was denied because the claim was for a change in your travel plans, which isn't covered under the standard trip cancellation benefits of your policy. Trip cancellation coverage is designed for unforeseen events that prevent you from taking your trip altogether, not for situations where you choose to alter your plans. We understand this outcome is frustrating. For any additional questions, please email your claim adjuster directly.
Very easily and quickly had birthdate for my husband corrected that I had entered incorrectly . Person answered with in 3 rings and it was fixed in less than a minute. Glad we did not need to make a claim, but hope the service would have been as good
