After purchasing my Tin Leg policy for my Panama Canal Cruise, the cruise was canceled by Holland America. I would have been able to get my money back from Holland America but Tin Leg wouldn’t reimburse me for my insurance which amounted to $643. Cancellation was only good for 30 days after purchasing this insurance policy. We had no alternative but to go on a 12 day Caribbean cruise to Islands I would never have chosen. We are celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary and this trip was the biggest disappointment of our lives all because Tin Leg would not allow us to cancel our insurance.
I am still in the process of my claim being reviewed. My initial experience has been very positive. Slight wait to share my experience and the rep was very helpful and positive. Shortly after the intake I received the checklist of information required to evaluate the claim.

Tin Leg was very slow to respond to my claim and very difficult to deal with. I will not be buying travel insurance from Tin Leg again.
Tin leg responded to my claim request quickly and asked me for information that was missing in an easy to respond to email. I had a claim with another company that took almost 4 months and I think tin leg should take about 4 to 6 weeks as we are almost complete.

My wife had severe pain while we were on a cruise. We were docked in Panama City at the time. The ships Dr. suspected she was having a kidney stone attack. She was sent by ambulance to a hospital for a scan and it confirmed his diagnosis. She required immediate surgery to remove it. I called Tin Leg at 12:20AM on January 9th from the hospital and spoke to Brittany and she was helpful. She gave me a case number #35917 to refer to if I call again. I paid all the expenses out of pocket and sent all the bills to them when we returned to the ship on January 17th. We returned home after the cruise on March 24th and completed a telephone interview with Erin Sparkman on March 28th. She was very nice but claimed Tin Leg did not receive all the documents I know I sent. I resubmitted all the documents once again. I submitted a claim that day with claim #25978-01 and sent some other required documentation to them by certified mail. They should have it by now. I am looking forward to a quick drama free payment on this claim and I would appreciate any assistance you can provide. This is my first experience with Squaremouth and you were highly recommended by my travel agent Travel with Alan. If my experience is favorable I will certainly use your services again. My wife and I travel often. We love cruises.
Our original party was 6 persons, one of whom had to cancel prior to the trip. The coverage of a “cancellation for any reason” was honored and reimbursed promptly.
Aside from what I felt was an unnecessarily complicated documentation process, Tin Leg’s claim process was smooth and straightforward.
Easy to purchase and discussed questions and additional options with Customer Service. They were courteous and very helpful. All my issues were resolved.
