Policy was pricey but coverage was good. Hard to rate the policy overall when there was no claim, but had read online that claim resolution was positive for most people. In retrospect we're glad that we purchased coverage.

The guide had to cancel my fishing trip to Brazil. He refunded my costs for the trip and had his travel agent work with the intnational leg of the flight to get all but 300 dollars reimbursement. I filed a claim for the flight from Austin to Miami, about 565 dollars. The response I received was cancellation was not covered with my Gold policy. I had sent the guide’s letter of cancellation and receipt for the ticket. I then received several more emails wanting more documents. We both know this was just a time wasting ploy so I moved on. The policy was not worth the paper on which it was printed. Lessons leaned:
Book everything through a good outfitter.
Do not waste money on travel insurance. The cost of the policy was more than the denied claim.

It has been a drawn out claims experience. I feel like the claims forms requests aren’t really clear, and Tin Leg keeps asking for additional information. The representatives I have spoken with are professional, however when I call to ask a question, I receive an email response in return. I believe it would be much more helpful to be able to speak with someone rather than receive an email back. This draws out the process, in my opinion, and it is frustrating. It doesn’t help when we are dealing with the stress of a cancer diagnosis on top of trying to get the insurance to complete the claim. Again, everyone I’ve spoken with has been nice and understanding, but I would prefer to get answers to my questions via a phone call rather than an email.

Everyone was professional when reached on the phone. It took a number of phone calls, however, to check on the claim’s status, and several times they asked for additional paperwork which hadn’t been asked for previously. If I hadn’t called, I wouldn’t have known they were asking for something else. I believe the process time could have been cut substantially had I been informed promptly if anything additional was needed. Fortunately, the claim was finally paid.
Everyone I interacted with was helpful, knowledgeable, and compassionate. You do customer service right!

Although everyone I've interacted with at Tin Leg has been both professional and helpful, I'm still waiting for my claim to be resolved...
We purchased another policy for an upcoming trip based on your customer service, but the proof is in the pudding, as they say. Hopefully, our existing claim will be resolved soon an we'll be able to recover some expenses related to an unexpected flight cancelation and travel delay.
We had a trip planned in October that was cancelled due to the War in Israel. We turned in a claim late October 2023 and here it is January 2024 and no one has followed up with us after turning in all the documents they requested from us. I've called them several times and was told that they see that the claim is in review (Whatever that means) and that someone will follow up with me within 24-48 Hrs. Sadly no one has yet. This is absurd that they even have to review the claim since it was due to a war in the country we were planning on visiting and that war is still going on to this day. What is there to review???
I will never use this company again, and encourage others to be aware of their tactics to hold your money hostage. I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the Federal Trade Commission office.
