Tin Leg customers praise the provider’s customer service, especially when making changes to their coverage or trip details. However, some have expressed frustration with the claims process, particularly regarding the amount of documentation required.
Claim was handled promptly, but I was surprised at the exclusion of eyeglasses on the baggage and personal items policy. Also, I did not get credit for an older camera because I didn't have the receipt.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are sorry to hear about the frustrating experience you had with the claim process.
After discussing with our claims team, your claim was denied for the reasons outlined in your review. Eyeglasses are excluded and a receipt for the camera would be required. Insurance is highly regulated, and documentation is required for any claim. We were able to cover other items related to your claim.
Our goal is to make the claims process as smooth and hassle-free as possible for our customers. I understand this has been a lengthy and frustrating process for you, and apologize that your claim did not have a more favorable outcome.
Although the requirements for documentation were lengthy and multiple...the claim was handled in a very professional way. The person assigned to my case was very helpful and responsive
I wish more/better coverage was available for healthy people over age 80. (Husband will be in a couple of years) Thank you!
My trip was entered as 7 day ( my mistake) and I emailed to say it was only 6 days. I emailed before trip started. Told price the same. Is that correct?
The email communication has been excellent, efficient and clear. Contact with claim office were very pleasant and timely. Professionalism is my description of staff.
I would never purchase any insurance from Tin Leg ever again. I submitted proof that a hotel had damaged my luggage (a letter from the hotel admitting their damage and photos of the damage), and yet they denied my claim because I did not have the original receipt from when I purchased the luggage. Had I known that I would be required to provide an original receipt, I would never have wasted my money on their worthless insurance policy. I claimed the policy coverage amount of $100 for the damaged bag, which they denied, even though they know perfectly well that wheel replacement on any bag, regardless of original cost, takes more than $100. I'm warning everyone I know to avoid Tin Leg when purchasing travel insurance. They are a scam!

We understand how distressing it can be to deal with extensive paperwork. After discussing with our claims team, your claim was denied due to the missing receipt for your luggage. Insurance is highly regulated, and documentation is required for any claim.

Tin Leg eventually did pay the claim, which was just $62 for a doctor's visit and medication while traveling in Australia. They made it difficult including requiring I contact the medical clinic in Australia (after I was home) to get more information. I will not use Tin Leg again.
Claim documentation tedious.
We were unable to take our planned trip because my wife had an accident. We filed a claim with TinLeg and it was handled quickly and professionally. TinLeg reimbursed us for all of the non-refundable costs. I would definitely use TinLeg again.
My husband & I had to leave a prepaid 6-day bike trip via backroads from Madrid to Valencia 1.5 days early because both of us were too sick to continue. Several days before the trip my husband was diagnosed by a Madrid doctor with a sinus infection and prescribed antibiotics. We thought he would be well enough to participate in the ride but soon discovered he wasn't responding to the medication. I also became quite sick with vertigo and vomiting from traveling on the twisty mountain roads. Due to our sickness, each of us had only been ride 3 days out of the 6. My claim was denied because I was told we needed a doctor to say we were too sick to continue but, there were no doctors available by the time we decided to leave. Upon returning home, my husband went to urgent care where an MD confirmed the sinus infection diagnosis and prescribed a different antibiotic that my husband responded to. I went to my ENT who confirmed that for the first time in my life I experienced car sickness from the twisty mountain roads.
