Travelex customers often praise the helpful and easily accessible customer service. However, some travelers feel the provider could offer more updates during the claims process, and that reimbursements can take longer than expected.
This is not a review, only information regarding my intended claim. I had a medical emergency during the trip. It required visits to two doctors, one in Astoria OR and one in Portland OR. The doctors advised my wife and me to end the vacation and return home to Escondido CA for further medical treatment. Because of that, our scheduled 10-day cruise ended after 1 1/2 days. I plan to submit a claim for the missed tour days, transportation from Astoria to Portland, transportation in Portland related to the medical incident, lodging and meals in Portland, and the additional cost to reschedule air transportation from Portland to San Diego.
If you wish I will submit another review after the settlement of my claim.

My baggage delay claim was paid within reasonable time frame, but I had to submit receipts multiple times, as their online system kept showing that it was awaiting receipts

I've been purchasing Travelex Insurance the past few years but never had to file a claim. Unfortunately on my most recent trip I had my phone stolen, so I called up Travelex and was advised to file a police report for the theft and upon return file a claim. The whole process was straight forward and they issued a check for replacement cost within three weeks. I high recommend this product and will continue to purchase going forward.

I purchased a "cancel for any reason" policy for a recent trip that was scheduled. Unfortunately, "any reason" occurred, and I was unable to go. I filed my claim, provided the documentation they requested (mostly receipts and confirmations), and within a week had the money deposited back in my account. It was MUCH easier than I expected. Travelex Insurance handled my claim and provided payment pretty quickly. I got the application online because the mailed copy from the company took too long to arrive. Once everything was submitted, the process moved along in a timely manner.

I have a question , I responded to the last survey and said I had good experience with TIS but I never had a claim
We have used Squaremouth for many years now for all our international travel. Its web site is superb and the customer representatives are knowledgeable and polite.
However, on this past insurance purchase we had an unusual experience. It was not with Squaremouth but with a new insurer on the site. Tin Leg, which appears to be associated with Squaremouth in some way, was considered as a possibility to other companies we had used in recent years. Its rates were very competitive, and the insurance policy limits were generous. However, when we contacted them with basic insurance questions for our Asia trip, the representative could not provide even general answers. And then she said a claims representative would contact us in a few days. We then contacted TravelEx with the same questions, and their representative was cheerful and very knowledgeable about the area being visited. We made the decision immediately to go with TravelEx since we were going to a foreign country with potentially difficult issues if one of us were injured or fell ill.
Squaremouth is a wonderful company offering a great service. Many of its customers are quite knowledgeable and possess the means to travel abroad. So having an association with any insurer should match the expectations of Squaremouth and its customers. Tin Leg did not do that in this situation, and you should be aware of that occurrence.
Our trip was cancelled because the hotel we were traveling to was trashed by a direct hit of a huge hurricane. They are still not open for business. Though we thought we had coverage for the hotel portion of the trip through our travel insurance policy, the customer service rep denied our claim because the hotel had not 'officially' cancelled the booking, even though there was no electricity or running water plus significant structural damage to the hotel. I realize that there were probably many, many similar calls to the insurance, but these guys weren't terribly sympathetic or helpful. Travelex: 'Sorry, there's nothing we can do.'

The Travel Basic plan you purchased is a Named Peril Policy, meaning the policy outlines the coverage included and if the reason for trip cancellation or trip interruption is not listed, coverage does not apply. The plan you purchased offers 13 different reasons to cancel or interrupt your trip, these are listed on pages 11 & 12, of the Description of Coverage. The Description of Coverage was emailed to you on August 28, 2017 at 4:23pm, when the policy was purchased.
The Squaremouth website offers several different policies, including multiple policies from Travelex Insurance, which offer a wider range of reasons for cancellation. For instance, our Travelex Travel Select policy offers the ability to cancel if your destination is made uninhabitable due to inclement weather, and the Travelex Travel Max policy includes the above reason, and an optional Cancel for Any Reason upgrade.
We empathize with your unfortunate situation; however, we trust that you understand that based on the terms and conditions of the protection plan purchased, and the information you presented over the telephone, the reason for your request for reimbursement is not covered. However, in order to give your claim every consideration you may complete and return the claim form that was sent to you so we may thoroughly review your claim.
