Travelex customers often praise the helpful and easily accessible customer service. However, some travelers feel the provider could offer more updates during the claims process, and that reimbursements can take longer than expected.
The filing of the claim was prompt, straightforward, and all my questions were answered. Our trip had been cancelled due to pre-existing illness and we received 100% of our pre-paid costs reimbursed within several weeks. No complaints.
I am still waiting for final closure of my claim, and it seems to be delayed. My adjuster has not responded to my latest email regarding the reimbursement that hasn't arrived yet.
It was necessary to cancel our European cruise and extended land trip due to my husband developing a medical condition on the day of departure. Full payment of our claim was received by us within three weeks of its receipt by Stonebridge Casualty, Underwriters for Travel Max. Any questions I had during the filing process were answered promptly. No questions or clarifications were asked of us during the approval process. We were very pleased with the timely response and full payment received. We will most definitely insure our future travels with Travel Max/Stonebridge Casualty and would recommend the company to others.
My experiences with both Squaremouth and Travelex were excellent. Squaremouth's website and customer service allowed the purchase of our policy to be completed with ease. When changing our coverage dates, we worked directly with Travelex. Their customer service was friendly, quick, and very professional. I would highly recommend both services.
I canceled the trip. I have a form to fill out to insure a new trip.
I find the squaremouth staff to be very helpful and professional
I think the insurance is absurdly expensive. There is a requirement by the insurance provider that the trip cancellation insurance be purchased within a few weeks of making reservations and paying deposits. "Cancel for any reason" is not a standard offer but is an additional premium. The consumer is paying about 10% of the cost of their trip for basic cancellation/evacuation insurance. After going on Safari in very remote places without phone or internet service, I am not sure how I would have contacted anyone to use the insurance. I had questions about the insurance And tried calling customer service before my departure date from the USA to find they are not open on weekends......However, if you want to BUY a new policy, that service is available 24/7.
This policy cost about half the amount of the insurance provided by our tour company. It was a better policy in that it provided primary medical coverage as opposed to secondary with the tour provider.
Unfortunately, we had to file two claims under this policy. One was a medical claim in Paris and the second was for trip interruption. Under the medical claim we made certain that we got a receipt from the medical provider as well as a report of the treatment (a simple one sentence statement on the receipt seemed to satisfy Travelex/ Old Republic).
On the trip interruption, we were stranded in JFK on our return due to weather. We were rebooked by our carrier on a flight almost three days later. We booked a room for the night at an airport hotel and managed to snag a rental car the following day and drove the final leg of our trip home. Travelex/ Old Republic paid for the room, rental car, and tolls for this trip. They did not pay for fuel, because the receipt we submitted was for a fill-up on the day after we returned home. If I did this again, I would be certain to fill the rental vehicle with fuel the day that we got back to our home so that we qualified for reimbursement.
All claims were submitted per Travelex/Old Republic requirements. This included original copies of all expense receipts as well as a copy of the tour company invoice and a copy of the tour operator contract covering trip interruption. We received our settlement check about two weeks after submitting our claim. Overall, we were very satisfied with our experience in this matter.
Excellent
My wife did most of the planning for this trip, but we were pleased with the service.
