Trawick customers appreciate the value for money offered by the policies and the ease of modifying them before a trip. However, some travelers report difficulty reaching customer service, particularly after filing a claim.
Representatives I spoke to on the phone were extremely helpful and very responsive.
The experience of searching for insurance through Square Mouth was easy and it appeared that I was purchasing a quality plan with Covid coverage for our trip to Mexico. However, one of our family came down with Covid, and she and her fiancee had to quarantine and postpone return to the United States. We were in Yelapa Mexico where there are no medical clinics, no Covid testing except for the tests we were told to bring with us, no cars.
Getting in touch with Trawick was difficult. Calls were dropped and not returned, they had short hours on another day due to training, (the 24-hour line didn't know how to answer questions so we were directed to the customer service - CBP) and it was there that calls were dropped etc. When I finally was able to talk to someone and explain we were in a remote place with no medical clinic or testing, she told me that nothing would go into effect until there was a professional test. Now that I am completing the paperwork it appears that they need tax id numbers for doctors. REALLY? If you are selling plans that cover trips to Mexico, maybe they should take into consideration how thanks are different than the U.S.
Maybe when the claim submitted to Trawick it will all go smoothly. However, I understand from another representative I talked to with some questions after returning to the U.S. that they are currently reviewing claims from November. So apparently it will be months before we hear anything. I will appeal if the claim is denied.
It sounded so comprehensive and great when I purchased the policy. It's not sounding like that when a claim is necessary.
Thank you for your review. It sounds like your experience has been frustrating, and for that we are truly sorry. The form you are completing is used by members all over the world, so it covers all bases. We understand that doctors outside of the U.S. do not have Tax ID #s, so leaving that field blank will not hold up your claim. We appreciate your feedback and will use it to help make our processes easier to understand. Please feel free to reach out to NWTravClaims@cbpinsure.com or 1-888-352-3169 with any questions you may have on your claim. Thank you.
I had to change my insurance dates due to covid. Then, a week and a half ago, my father died, so I have had to cancel the trip.
When I talked with a lady from Tarwick she was able to answer all of my questions which were many because I'd never purchased travel insurance before. I had tried to get some a few years ago & couldn't get clear answers to my questions. Therefore, I didn't buy any. In todays world I feel I will need some everytime I travel internationally. Now I know where to buy it.
When calling customer service, I waited on hold for over an hour before I gave up. They never did come on the line.
Review Updated: 04/29/2022
It has been 8 weeks since the claim was submitted, and I have not heard a single word from Trawick International other than "claims will be processed in the order received." I have written twice asking for ANY information about an approximate date my claim might be viewed and have heard NOTHING. I am EXTREMELY DISSATISFIED with their customer service. I would appreciate a phone call from Squaremouth or Trawick International to help me understand the poor communication practices and to hear when my claim will be processed.
I am not sure that is who I am with. My policy says Nationwide. But so far, I have not heard anything from them. I put the request in last week (online) and if nothing else, expected an e-mail or phone call.
My trip was disrupted and I filed a claim, my policy said I would be compensated $150 a day it was two days before I arrived home and I received nothing, not even for meals, after waiting over a month for a response, I won't use this company again, very unhappy

Well covered and easy to consume policy.
I cancelled my trip on December 26, 2021 for a Mexico vacation which was to depart February 12 and return February 17, 2022. I contacted them numerous times to ask for a refund since I was not going to use the insurance. The first call I was told that I should reach out to Squaremouth. I heard back from Jacob Handon on January 2, 2022. (Policy No 1181447) He referred me back to Trawick.
Very difficult to speak to a representative. I feel I should have been reimbursed since I would not have used the policy. Cryptic emails from Trawick and no help at all. I've used Squaremouth previously and have had good results. I was surprised and disappointed at the service and result.
At this time Trawick is processing a lot of claims and response to my claim is taking some time. I can say this is concerning with the amount of money I am trying to have returned for the cruise I was unable to take due to COVID. I have also called and it takes a significant amount of time to talk to and agent.
