Shane, in order for the policy to cover a hurricane you have to purchase the insurance coverage before they named it. In your case they named hurricane Irma on August 30,2017 which was before you bought the insurance coverage on 9/4. This plan won’t cover any trip cancellation once the storm was named. Perhaps you can get some of your money back from the airline. You should contact them and see what they can do.

Tickets were purchased on August 30th, but the airline does not offer travel insurance , so it took me 4 days to find a company and purchase travel insurance. Much of the delay was caused by my local agent who did not want me to outsource a new company .That's what caused the delay. But the tickets were purchased on the 30th of August.
We took the insurance as we invited the 3 visitors to be with us. They are returned home now without incident. We live in Canada wanted to unload the risk.
They were very friendly and helpful. I will use again the next time I am out of the country.
Easy to purchase. Just one minor issue for me... The agent I called seemed somewhat reluctant to answer my questions about the policy saying several times that what I was asking was in the written policy that I could read myself. I did not have the policy at hand which is why I called Customer Service.
Excellent Insurance for fair price.
Purchasing the policy was easy and clean. Filing a claim was straight forward: I sent an email, received forms, and filled them out and mailed them, tracking provided, to the address stipulated. However, that's where things stopped and my insurer started putting up barriers. Even though all materials requested: medical questionnaire, doctor's statements, clinic statements and all doctor and clinic receipts were provided, I keep getting requests for an additional medical questionnaire. I would like this claim resolved before I re-up this month. I will re-up as soon as this is resolved.
Mark, GBG needs the accident questionnaire filled out because you did not give details in the claim form nor in the medical records about how you were injured the medical accident form you sent back was blank. Once you have answered the questions on the form the rest of the process should go smoothly. They are waiting on you as of today 6/12/17.
