I purchased travel insurance and my trip costs have unexpectedly exceeded the insured amount? What should I do?

Some travel insurance policies require that you insure the full prepaid, non-refundable trips costs for certain benefits (i.e. pre-existing conditions exclusion waiver or cancel for any reason).  In this instance, you should call and modify the policy within the appropriate time period and pay any additional premium to keep these benefits intact.  In the event you under insure your trip and need to cancel, you will only receive up to the maximum amount insured.
