Reminder to purchase travel insurance

The Atlantic hurricane season is already underway with several storms named to date. It is too late to insure against named storms, but this is a good reminder for you to purchase travel insurance when you book a trip. Some of the covered reasons for trip cancellation are if the common carrier must delay departure for at least 24 hours or the client’s home or destination accommodation is made uninhabitable by the hurricane. In addition some policies will cover you for cancellation in the event a hurricane warning is issued within 24 hours of departure or the client’s arrival at their destination is delayed to the point that they lose 50% or more of their trip. Mandatory evacuation is covered by some policies as well.

Remember - travel insurance insurance must be purchased before the storm is named.
