When my husband got sick in March we cancelled several trips for this year that had already been paid for. Only one was insured with Generali, the others were with various other companies. All claims were submitted the same week. Generali had the easiest claim application process, and paid the fastest. We were so impressed that we will use them for all our future travel.

SquareMouth was recommended to us as a good place to look for insurance companies. We used it on the last trip, and on this one.
It happens we used Generali Global Assistance on both last years, and this years trip.
Since our claim is in process, I can't comment on it.. -- Except to say that filing it was easy enough.

This was my second time using Generali Global Assistance, and the first time I needed to submit a claim.
The process was straightforward and all via submission of forms on line. The amount / loss I declared was accepted and I was refunded in a prompt manner.
In this case the 'loss' was 'trip delay' which resulted in the loss of a 'non-refundable' hotel night stay.
While I had a choice of paying extra for 'refundable' hotel nights, I didn't due to having insurance.
I called the hotel to let them know I would be arriving late, so they would hold the room.
That left one night I was not there. That unused night was covered by insurance, -
Insurance covered what they said they would. -- Always good when an Insurance Company covers what they claim they cover.
No complaints with this company.

My wife and I along with another couple had to cancel a trip because of a medical event. The cancelation was after the refundable time-frame of a VRBO reservation. After gathering the necessary claim documents including a physician's statement, I submitted our claim online on a Monday and received payment directly into our checking account the following Monday - only one week later! No hassles, I didn't even need to talk to anyone. The Generali claim website was intuitive, easy to upload documents, and saved my information as I entered it.

Hi. We filed a claim and was denied and was advised to contact our state. Our reason for cancellation was no fault on our behalf. There was a shut sound at the Embassy of Ghana in DC, due to a scandal which led to a delay in the return of our passport with the required visa. That was a grey line and we should have received a refund.

We also offer a free look back period with all of our plans to allow customers to cancel their policies within a designated period as long as they haven't already left on their trip or filed a claim. The plan is unfortunately unable to provide coverage for every event that might cause you to cancel.
