Many Generali customers appreciate the fast and easy online claims process, with many highlighting how quickly they receive reimbursement. However, some customers find the claims portal and the provider’s automated phone system difficult to navigate.
I am happy that no assistance was needed from your company. Our trip was spectacular. Knowing that we had insurance if we needed it, just gave us peace of mind. The trip was one of a life time and we spent a lot of money on it, so we wanted some protection.
We were unable to take trip due to a positive covid test but I was so pleased with how responsive your company was. I was traveling with a dove group and we have decided to recommend or add this insurance to our next dive trip as part of the package we were so pleased. I have also recommended this product to many com workers after this experience also
They offered little assistance but a lot of questions when I called for help due to a Covid diagnosis and isolation. The one email I received had a lot of language telling me what they “might” cover. Not really helpful when I need prescription medication refills.

Easy process to choose and buy coverage. Also easy to work with the insurance company when my husband tested positive for Covid the evening before our flight home to the US.

Clunky, time-consuming process with many hurdles and way too many exclusions resulted in a paltry payment.
Since we canceled our trip and received vouchers from the cruise line, I contacted customer service about a refund or future credit for the cost of the insurance. They put me in touch with the exception department. After providing appropriate documentation, I received a refund in full. Fantastic and quick service! We travel several times a year, international and domestic, and I won’t hesitate to use their insurance protection again.
My wife had a medical incident while we were traveling. We found it very difficult to contact Generali and to get clear guidance. The simplest comparison I can offer is how most people are taught to respond after a motor vehicle accident in the United States. The insurance company provides drivers with very clear guidance, as to what to do following an incident. In addition to a toll-free phone number there are clear steps or actions you take if you are involved in an accident. In contrast, not only did we (and the hospital) have to try several times to call the Generali contact number, there were numerous menu choices to navigate rather than a real person to speak with. In any emergency, you should be able to connect quickly with a real person rather than have to navigate menus when you are already feeling stressed. Because we had a medical emergency we expected to be able to get clear guidance. We were transferred several times and it is noteworthy that some of the customer service responders we talked to were working for more than one insurance company. In other words they were very unfamiliar with specific questions regarding Generali. We were never able to get clear guidance about the medical coverage until we had already found a hospital and my wife had received medical treatment. This meant we did not know what was or was not covered by our insurance company. Additionally, it was only after treatment that the hospital was able to contact Generali and then inform us that the terms of the insurance meant that we had to personally pay the medical bill and then submit for reimbursement ("pay and submit"). We will be very upset if we later learn that some things at the hospital were not covered by the insurance. People need advice immediately when they face medical emergencies. The system of menus involved when phoning this company is very frustrating. Someone should try it out! We have now submitted a claim and await the result. We did receive a request for information that we had already submitted. We also learned that we needed to first submit a medical claim to our US medical policy before being considered for reimbursement from Generali. Again, this was not clear at the outset of the claim. Just a very clunky and unclear claim process. Bit disappointing. Hopefully, the final outcome is satisfactory.

Easy to purchase policy but very poor customer service in follow-up: website continues to report error message at last step in filing claim after 6 attempts; customer service rep was courteous in trying to help but, in the end, sent an email with this information and the statement that she would cross her fingers that this will work. That as not reassuring.
