    Generali Global Assistance policy: Standard

    My March 2022 travel to Chile required a number of steps to complete their Covid protocols. One requirement was an insurance policy that specifically covered Covid health issues while in Chile should it occur.. SquareMouth Travel Insurance easily provided a list of insurance providers online that would cover me for just a ten day trip . I scrolled through the choices and picked Generali Global Assistance based on price and meeting Chile's minimums. Filled out the application and charged the amount on a credit card for two which was pretty easy considering my elderly background. Even asked their customer service through email to specifically mention Covid in a letter as part of the health coverage and that was done almost immediately. My fellow travelers also used the site and were satisfied as was I. Considering my trepidations about filling out applications online and the usual frustrations, I was quite pleased with the outcome.

    We had a flight cancelled on our return trip. I had used the wrong trip ending date on the application so they did not have to pay for the extra expenses. They paid anyway, and the process was simple and the refund was fast.

    It's been great! Unfortunately I had covid the day before my trip. So I had to cancel that trip. And now I have to proceed with filing a claim of what wasn't refundable. Thank you!

    Seems to be a disconnect between Global Assistance and the claims process - we thought there would be continuity. Not sure what help the Global Assistance was really able to provide in our situation. Have started filing the claim (+ve Covid test resulting in 5 day trip delay), jury is out on the result.

    Required quite a lot of documentation but payment was made promptly and in full.

    Difficult to submit claim. For a medical issue they want you to submit everything to your carrier. I have medicare and they do not cover any medical expenses. Also the forms that foreign countries and doctors have are not complete and give all the information that the Generali wants. I’ve had no communication from them since the claim was submitted.

Unfortunately, the claims process can take some time, as our regulatory laws require a number of reviews and required documentation. Under normal circumstance, the process can take up to 30 days. This timeline may be extended due to the current volume we are experiencing but I can assure you we are working diligently to process all claims promptly.
