Many Generali customers appreciate the fast and easy online claims process, with many highlighting how quickly they receive reimbursement. However, some customers find the claims portal and the provider’s automated phone system difficult to navigate.
We travel a lot (at least until Covid interfered); and have purchased multiple travel insurance policies in the past-and intend to do so again.
When we purchased the last policy to cover our planned Africa trip, I specifically asked customer service to make sure the policy covered Covid-related issues. On that basis, I purchased the Tin Leg policy.
We needed to cancel our trip due to a Covid related health issue. Despite submitting detailed medical information to the carrier, my claim was denied; and denied again on appeal. I canceled my trip before I needed to make the large final payment thinking this was the correct thing to do--so my entire claim was for only for $3000.
I am extremely disappointed in the outcome which will definitely affect my future decisions onto when and with whom I purchase travel insurance policies in the future.
Any help you can provide with Tin Leg would be most appreciated.

As stated in our policy documents, our plans only reimburse for non-refundable, pre-paid trip costs if you need to cancel your trip for a covered reason. Generali Global Assistance plans do not offer coverage if you cancel your trip due to fear of traveling due to Coronavirus, unless you added Trip Cancellation for Any Reason coverage. Our plans can help if you are diagnosed with Coronavirus before or during your trip. You just need to meet the standard requirements for coverage due to sickness, and our plans can assist you with Trip Cancellation, Trip Interruption, Travel Delay, Medical & Dental, and Emergency Assistance & Transportation. my trip was cancelled, it took some times but I was able to get my refund back, and I appreciated the customer representative whom I first contacted on 1/20/22. She gave me some info for me to proceed with the exception department. Thank you!

My wife developed profuse watery diarrhea and abdominal pain on about 2/23/22. We were hiking in Patagonia at the time, with minimal access to medical assistance. We were able to reach Punta Arenas, Chile ,by which date, 2/25/22, my wife's pain had worsened and localized to her right lower abdomen. We called the Global Assistance number and were advised to seek medical attention. She was seen in the emergency area of a clinic where she was given iv medications, lab tests and a ct of the abdomen to look for appendicitis or any other surgical emergency. The test did not show a surgical problem and we were able to travel to Santiago ,Chile. The next day she was seen by a physician in our hotel where she was given iv meds, iv fluids and prescriptions for treatment of probable giardiasis. I called Generali GlobalAssistance the following day to update them on her situation. After I explained my reason for calling, I was transferred to a man who said he would put a note in our file but made no specific recommendations. The following day I received an email from Global assistance following up. I responded to the email and was told that Global Assistance had tried to contact us on 3 different occasions (2/25,2/26 and 2/28) . My wife checked her cell phone and found three emails from Global Assistance: she had been too ill to use her cell phone until then. I however, had been the person who. called and was on the Insurance policy, but I received no email or phone call during this time.
It would have been reasonable to suppose that I would be contacted as well as my wife.
Fortunately, we have returned to the US: mu wife is improved but not well and I developed similar symptoms by the time we had reached Santiago . We are both in process of being evaluated in San Diego.
My only real complaint is the followup by Global Assistance, which I believe could have been much better and more timely. Specifically, I believe that GlobalAssistance should ha ve included me in their correspondence with my wife, since we are insured under the same policy and my contact information should have been av bailable to them.
I am filing a claim with my primary insurance fopr the medical bills and I plan to file with Generali to recover some of the expenses of the trip that we paid for but did not receive because of the illness

The amount of time that I spent on hold was way too long. If I had had an emergency, I am not sure what I would have done.

Good price and specifically addressed my concerns about Covid related interuptions
Being able to purchase this insurance a few weeks before my trip alleviated much anxiety about traveling overseas
With all the issues related to Covid, and any other illness or accident.
We felt it was a reasonable price and easy to secure.
When we had to cancel just before departure due to a positive Covid test, I called to notify a representative of the Generali Global Assistance insurance company who emailed me a packet of information to make a claim as promised. We will be filing a claim.
You web site needs more compute power in the back end. Very slow
