Our planned trip was cancelled by Viking two weeks before it was scheduled. The Elbe River was too low due to a prolonged lack of rainfall. When I called Generali to report the cancellation, the first thing that their customer service representative said to me was "Since your trip was cancelled would you like to cancel your policy and receive a full refund on your premium?" A naïve customer might have agreed, not realizing that they would be eligible to file a claim under the Cancellation portion of their policy. I believe that it was unethical to suggest that I could cancel the coverage and receive a refund. If I had not had cancellation coverage that might have made sense.
Since filing the claim about two weeks ago I have received two emails indicating that they would be in touch with me but I have not actually heard from anyone at Generali.

I was disturbed that pre-existing health issues weren’t covered. My health issues are well under control by my doctors. I have been stable for 6+ years.
I called twice and spoke to 2-different individuals. They each referred to checking records for the past 180 days...for something new. I think they said if something new appears, then...???

This is intrusive. I said I wasn't making a claim, leave me alone. With this nonsense I may not use again. Give me a way to opt out!!!!
I had to cancel my trip due to fractured ribs and a sprained hand.
I filed a claim which was handled very efficiently and without any delay.
Received a complete refund within a couple weeks.

Sadly, we had to cancel our trip due to my husband's serious health problems. I had made virtually everything about the trip refundable. *The only thing that was not refundable was your insurance!* Still, it made me feel a sense of confidence that if he broke his ankle while hiking you would help us, even if his underlying health condition was not covered.
