It has been a joke in trying to get reimbursed. I had a stroke the first of July and we have still not been compensated. The hotel was terrible in assisting us as well as your insurance companies. I will certainly never use you again.

My airline canceled my trip the day before leaving. They put me on another flight that would clear customs at a separate airport so I called GGA to help me book a new flight. This would make me 2 hours late for the flight out of Maun and I could miss my safari.
They sent an email out and cc’d me so I waited but at 10:30pm they still had not contacted me with a new flight so I re-read the email the rep sent out and realised he had ONLY emailed me. Nobody else saw that request for a new flight.
I told the insurance rep that I would handle it and I booked myself on to another airline for the next day.
The strange thing was my friends were on the Air Botswana flight I was supposed to be on and said there were many seats available. So why did Air Botswana cancel just my flight to put be on one that arrived two hours after my friends? Anyway I wasted hours waiting for your insurance representative to help me and Ultimately had to book it myself at about 12:05 am.

My claim was a small one. They processed it immediately and had no additional questions about my submission. My reimbursement was in my bank account within 24 hours. I was very impressed with their service.

Either on purpose or through shear incompetence, Generali made the claim process incredibly difficult and frustrating. It was impersonal and seemed to me as the end user designed to wear me down so i would just give up and not pursue the claim. After weeks of back and forth with the adjuster over email where I would provide the documents requested and answer any questions but would receive the EXACT SAME copy and paste form email back asking for the same information I finally got the adjuster on the phone and had to LITERALLY explain to her how airplane connections work and why we had missed our connecting flight due to severe weather. Only after a frustrating phone call and multiple attempts to explain airplane connections did she finally get it and move our claim forward. Someone working for a travel insurance company and responsible for approving claims should at least have basic knowledge of air travel. Absolutely frustrating. I'll never use Generali again.

Our vacation ended at the airport as we were about to check in for our flight due to a medical emergency for my husband. He ended up in the Emergency room. The hotel was kind enough to fully refund what was at that point a non refundable booking. GGA did not pay for the airline ticket because we received travel credit from the airline, even though a future travel credit is not equivalent to a cash refund, as it limits me to a single provider, timeframe, and terms of use. This interpretation is inconsistent with both consumer expectations and regulatory guidance.
