Our travel agent said because of the 9-11 week current wait for a passport application/renewal we may get nothing back. I thought that was one of the reasons to have the insurance. The normal 3.5 - 5 weeks turnaround for a passport has gone o 9-11weeks has probably caught many travelers like us in this position.

It was necessary to cancel our trip due my wife's diagnosis of breast cancer and required surgery. We submitted a doctor's letters on her stationery plus the patient authorization to access my wife's patient records as required. 3 weeks later, we received an email from Generali Global Assistance asserting that the physicians letter was not sufficient to service the claim and that we needed to ask the doctor to complete their Physician's Statement form. This is bureaucratic ****, by the way. They have access to my wife's medical records and they have a letter from the physician but assert that is not enough proof to service the claim. In the email, they attached the Patient's Authorization Form, which we had already completed when we filed the claim, and a copy of our policy, which we already had when we purchased the policy, but did not include the Physician's Statement Form they were asking that we have my wife's physician complete. Also, they threaten to cancel the claim if we do not file the Physician's Statement within 30 days. It took Generali Global nearly 3 weeks to send us a form letter requesting the completion of the form and then they have the audacity to threaten to deny claim if we can't get to see my wife's physician and get their damn form completed in time. This is poor customer service and bureaucratic bunk. As customers, we are not impressed with how we are being served.

Warning, look very closely at Generali Global Assistance, I give them 0 stars, we booked flight and plane was at gate ready to board and announcement was made flight cancelled, insufficient crew members. The FAA a government agency will not board passengers as this is a safety issue. Filed claim, submitted documentation, as we suspected benefits were denied, Airlines refunded our plane tickets Generali said no.
Only 2 things were covered mechanical breakdown and weather, so I was denied and asked for a supervisor, denied. Even though the FAA was the reason we were denied. Stupid reasons and grossly limited reasons. So the wing or engine could fall off and we are covered. The engine could fall off and we are covered, let it be a safety issue and nope not covered, and don't ask for any help you won't get it!!!!!
Haven't heard a peep from them no way to get to a supervisor.
Now I ask you to look and read and find you someone who cares. At 71 yrs old I am highly disappointed

I can’t get a live person on the phone to answer questions. The emails I received are form letters and don’t address my questions . My wallet & iPhone were stolen in Vietnam. I called the toll-free number to ask for assistance finding them as directed in my policy. After waiting on line and pressing many buttons as directed, the automated voice informed me that my call couldn’t be connected and hung up on me.

Easy to purchase a policy. Had to dig through the text to determine all that was covered (e.g., rental car insurance, medical issues etc.)
Determined after reading the policies that I wanted to get the premium policy. I thought it would have been easier to upgrade than to cancel the first policy and purchase a new policy. However, the cancellation went through fairly quickly.

I bought a Preferred coverage for a 30 days trip to India and Nepal, very expensive trip. 10 days into the trip I developed COVID, after isolating, I flew back to states.
After recovering, I made a trip interruption claim with Generali. It took a month and a half, and a serious amount of documentation but Generali paid almost all the amount I requested.
I would definitely use them again. They were very thorough. Based on the feedback here, I was careful using their website, read my policy carefully, and provided all the documentation they requested. I think they were fair with my claim.
