Many Generali customers appreciate the fast and easy online claims process, with many highlighting how quickly they receive reimbursement. However, some customers find the claims portal and the provider’s automated phone system difficult to navigate.
Could have been 5 stars, but filing a claim on their website cost Generali one star: after entering data and attachments, the website dumped everything I had done. A phone call led to an acknowledgement that the site wasn't working, and I was instructed to fax my claim - an inconvenient process for most clients. Generali temporarily lost another star during the settlement process: I was notified that two checks would be issued, and the total was about $14 less than my claim. The accompanying explanation made no sense, but another phone call to the claims agent V.C. did clear it up, as she took the time to sort out what had happened and explained to me in a clearer manner. One other issue was that the first check came in a reasonable time, but the second did not. Twice I had to request it be reissued, and it took 8 weeks to finally settle. Bottom Line: 4 stars.

I filed a claim over a month ago and haven’t heard back. The online form did not have an option to check the particular coverage that I was filing for- missed connections. I could not get ahold of customer service on the phone and I would prefer being able to make a claim over the phone.

Son contracted Covid on trip. Had to stay longer due to quarantine requirements and for son to feel well enough to travel. Submitted itemized list of expenses incurred, which also contained explanation/justification for each expense, copies of receipts, credit card stmt and Covid lab test results via their online portal. Claim was processed in less than 3 weeks. Highly recommend

I had many questions related to the specific provisions and detailed coverages provided by the policy and so contacted the Generali customer service several times. A knowledgeable representative was always available, after minimal waiting on phone hold, and all provided detailed answers that I judged to be accurate.

I contacted General Global Assistance customer Service who promised to send me an email on how to file a claim for flight delay expenses, but I never received it. I ended up tracking down the mailing address for the insurer and sending a written claim with documentation, receipt of which was acknowledged, but I've heard nothing further. It has been only two weeks since I filed the claim, so I am hoping to receive a decision soon.

General Global Assistance honored the terms of their travel insurance policy fully. My claim was paid promptly and the service was excellent. My claim related to an overnight flight delay. So, mindful of the insurer’s need for documented proof of loss, I provided copies of multiple texts from the airline about the delay, in addition to the expected receipts for food and hotel accommodations. I supported the documents with a detailed narrative of events. Travelers should be aware of their responsibility to provide clear proof of loss to the insurer. Read your policy to understand the scope of your coverage before filing a claim.

I guess it was a good experience, I wasn't too sure as the person I bought the
policy from seemed a bit casual on the phone and I had the feeling that this might have been a “set up” but further investigation appears to have made this a legitimate company…..my first experience buying a vacation policy. It was peace of mind and worth the purchase.
