I honestly can't remember about the customer assistance, much but I did call prior to purchasing. As it didn't make much of an impression on me one way or the other, obviously, it meant it wasn't memorably fantastic, nor was it horrible. The fact that I didn't need to make a claim made the whole thing smooth. (Last time when I needed to make a cancel for any reason claim, it was rejected because my MIL canceled within 48 hours and I didn't know about that restriction. With travel insurance, you need to be so incredibly up on the rules because they really do not "want" to pay!)

After having bought trip insurance for decades and never making a claim, we finally had a reason to do so. We bought a policy with Generali which was not the cheapest one available, but they got slightly better reviews, especially in the claims payout category. Due to a death in the family our trip departure was delayed, resulting in significant extra costs for transportation changes and an extra hotel stay. We were pleasantly surprised to get a generous settlement from Generali for trip interruption that fully covered our extra costs. It took some diligence and patience on our part, filing the claim and providing lots of documentation to the claims process. Generali's online claim system is difficult if not impossible to use, so we ended up emailing everything to them. Then they wanted more information. Fortunately we had records of everything and were able to provide it as requested. Email worked fine. They were hard to reach by phone, so it was difficult to have a conversation. So I would say this was a positive experience because they did pay the claim, but we did have to jump through some hoops to get it done, to be patient, to persevere, and it took a couple of months. Thank you Generali for coming through for us.

We had a missed connection and lost luggage and filed a claim. Unfortunately the documentation that we had from the foreign carrier was not sufficient for the travel insurance to pay out. Trying to get the information that they were requiring was almost impossible from the foreign carrier. We had adequate documentation showing that delayed luggage and missed connection but this did not satisfy the carrier. I don't think I would get travel insurance that would cover this connection and lost luggage again.

The process of receiving claims by Generali is dysfunctional due to poor functionality of its claims accepting webpage.
I filled out a claim form online and submitted via that webpage all the required information. It was around middle of October '22. After a month expired since then I contacted the company to find out status of my claim. However, the claim and all the related documentation was impossible to locate due to the malfunctioning of the website I was told. It took speaking to more than one representative to find the root cause. Finally, a third representative advised me to resubmit the claim and all the related information via email.
What if I didn't follow up the status of my claim? Would I ever hear from the company? Why nobody notified me about the failure of the webpage?
This type of service by a reputable insurance company is totally unacceptable. In addition to the fact that the company is processing claim slowly, my claim is now a month behind of its due time.
Please document my dissatisfaction with quality of service by Generali Global Assistance.
