I selected John Hancock based on the price, prior reviews, and the features of the policy, which were a good match for my needs. Six of us were traveling together and we had booked our trip so far in advance that I was worried that someone in the group might need to cancel. We did have two crises in the week before our trip impacting two couples (a stage four cancer diagnosis for a sibling and an automobile accident) and it was good knowing we were covered. Fortunately we were all able to travel, so we didn’t need to make a claim.
I had questions about the potential impact of a hurricane on me and they were very helpful.
We have purchased travel policies through Squaremouth for years with no complaint. Under this particular policy we had a claim pertaining to injuries sustained. Upon receipt of documentation, John Hancock Insurance Agency promptly responded and our expenses were reimbursed without undue delay.
I lost my passport and was in danger of missing my flight. I called the contact number on my insurance documents. After many rings, the phone was answered by an "answering service." I was told that they could not help me and that I could only contact my insurer by going on-line. I was given the name of the web site that I needed to go to. I do not remember the name of the web site but it was not John Hancock. I told them that my policy listed John Hancock as the insurer. I was still told to go to this web site. I am not even sure that I was really sold insurance from John Hancock or if it was just a fraud company. Fortunately, I had an additional insurance policy that covered my airline tickets, which I had purchased from British Airlines. I was able to get great service from AIG as their insurer and my problem was solved. I will never use squaremouth or John Hancock again. If I could rate John Hancock a 0 instead of a 1 on this survey, I would.
I was drving to my destination. The middle east coast of Fl to Key West....I was trying to be sure I was covered, in the event a hurricane would affect my home or destination, or both. I spoke to an agent 2 or 3 times and got a different answers each time. Your coversge wording is very complicated, and either your agents dont understsnd it or they arent able to convey the meaning properly. I am thankful the trip is past, and I did'nt need to put in a claim, because i feel that i was not covered properly even at he price I paid. When you live in Fl and are traveling within the state a hurricane can affect your home and destination, both preventing you from going or interrupting your trip...you need a policy that clarifies this.
The enrollment process was very straightforward and I had no problems. However, about 10 days prior to departure, I was unable to locate the paperwork I had printed out including the proof of insurance ID cards. I contacted the agency and was very surprised that they were unable to locate any record of my policy!! I gave them an effective date, my name and DOB, and every other piece of information I could think of and to no avail.
Fortunately, I was able to finally track down my paperwork, but I have to admit I was pretty uncomfortable that the insurance carrier could not locate my file. I like Squaremouth just fine, but have my doubts about using John Hancock again.
FYI, I have been an insurance agent for 37 years so I have a fairly good grasp of what should and should not happen when someone is securing new coverage.
Dependent upon what Icelandair does with the delayed loss baggage info I have supplied. I was not pleased with the rep. I spoke with from Hancock who was extremely negative about by situation. She was noy helpful at a;;
Needed to make a claim which was processed quickly without any issues.
Our small claim was handled professionally and efficiently. We are very satisfied.
