    Arch RoamRight policy: Adventure

    All my friends and I were looking for was coverage for emergency helicopter evac from the mountains for a backpacking trip. I get the fine print. But seriously, if you or really ANY carrier would just offer a product that would simply state that coverage would be adequate, without any guessing or wondering you would take over this albeit niche demand in the insurance market.
    I'm not talking about high risk stuff here. Just a bunch of guys hiking without tech.
    Honestly I'm still only "pretty sure" that this coverage would have gotten me out of the mountains if I had had an injury. Customer service was marginally helpful here as he kindly read word for word what I could read for myself off the internet.
    After poring over many options, I just picked one. Thankfully, none of our group needed to test our luck and see if our policies would have held water.
    Seriously--write a simple policy and market it. People like me will find the clear cut coverage and buy it.

    Arch RoamRight policy: Essential

    Air Canada lost my piece of luggage for 6 days. I contacted RoamRight and they were quick to send me a claim form via e-mail in case my luggage did not show up. Fortunately they located my luggage and I did not have to file a claim.

    Even though I was blessed not to have to have used my trip insurance policy purchased through Squaremouth, I had the security of having the policy if I needed it. I did investigate the company beforehand and was quite satisfied with the reviews that I read. I will be purchasing travel insurance from them again soon for my next trip abroad. They provided the coverage I needed along with reasonable prices and easy-to-compare policy tables.

    We were delayed for 26 hours at our departure airport. We contacted RoamRight's 24 hour emergency assistance to clarify what are our delay coverage was. We weren't sure we were eligible for hotel benefits as we were still at our departure. The rep was able to refer to the policy certificate and verify that coverage was available for both food and lodging based on our situation.

    Once we returned home we filed a claim online, which was processed within 2 weeks - we were paid the full benefit limit. The only improvement I would suggest based on my experience, is that I wasn't informed or updated on the status of my claim throughout the process, and because it was done online, I didn't know what to expect or when to expect it.

    Overall, I'm happy with my experience! We bought the policy specifically because of the short time period to qualify for travel delay coverage - glad we did!

    I had never had to file a claim before this trip and was very scared to do so. I thought that they would make it as hard as possible and keep asking for more information and forms etc. But I uploaded all that I had which was a doctors form and travel documents and they paid our claim. I am very grateful. I would definitely use Roam Right again.

    I broke my ankle in Marakesh. Late at night on the same day as my accident, my tour guide called the 24/7 emergency assistance number. We spoke with a Roam Right representative and a nurse. Both were excellent. They said that they were going to e-mail forms to complete for my accident. These forms did not come through until the next morning. One of the local tour guides completed the forms for me while I was in the hospital. He sent them back and that was the last we heard for 36 hours!!! Not good when it is an emergency situation. They made the excuse that they needed to find an interpreter to translate from the French (not an uncommon language and most of it was referring to medical terms anyway.) For the next two days, I tried to get an answer from them about transportation from JFK (New York) airport out to my home in Connecticut. I was still trying to get an answer from them as I was being driven to the airport in Cassablanca. they told me they needed the release form form the doctor int he hospital. This form had already been sent to them two days before. They finally told me to get a taxi or limousine from JFK to Connecticut and submit the bill. That would have been difficult as taxis won't go from NY to CT and limousines aren't always there unless you have ordered one. In addition, it would have been very expensive. In the end, I asked my daughter to drive in from CT and pick me up.
    The bottom line is that my initial experience with Roam Right was excellent but then it fell apart in a big way. When you are in an emergency situation, you need the team at the other end to be very responsive and they were absolutely not! This is the first time I have ever had to make a claim with any travel insurance company. I hope this isn't a reflection of all of the companies out there.

    I called your 24 hour assistant line twice to file a claim and they stated they would email me forms. They didn't.had to call four times to get forms emails to me
