    Yes,
Thank you for asking about how my claim was handled.
So, the claim is in limbo. I don't know if it is closed or open.

I believe there isn't going to be any forward motion because of the limitations placed upon the insured to provide what can best be described as "Western Medicine" solutions.

What I experienced was an internal injury to my right knee -- possibly a ligament and more likely the meniscus.

I did not, however, go to the "Medical Bay" aboard the ship mainly because I know what the solution would have been.
I wasn't prepared for ending my trip because of the knee injury but I also didn't think about the documentation aspect of making a claim at the time. I needed something more of an immediate solution that would stabilize my knee and reduce the swelling that was uncomfortable. I thought about documentation at some point, possibly X-rays, that sort of thing.

Instead, I chose to pay out of pocket for the onboard acupuncturist Doctor to work some Eastern medicine magic and she did.
If you have never seen how acupuncture can reduce swelling within a matter of perhaps fifteen or twenty minutes, you are missing something quite significant when it comes to healing. My cousin had blown-up her knee and asked me to go with her to see what her acupuncture doctor does and I was astounded. So I knew what would work and, yes, of course there are simple things like using hot / cold compresses (ice for cold, baths for hot).

I'm mostly back to normal without surgery and without a couple thousand dollars. The Seven Corners is probably an insurance company I would use in the future. If the situation were severe or even life threatening, I would see the Western medicine doctor to get me off the ship and to a hospital. There is only so much an acupuncturist can do, like even the Medical bay doctor -- he's not going to be doing surgery on me -- just triage until I would be ashore somehow.

Bottom line I gather is that Seven Corners wants to see Medical bay documentation and not receipts for acupuncture treatments.
I know what worked, I'm still healing. My body is figuring out how to compensate and rebalance.

I appreciate Squaremouth's willingness to intercede.
You've made a good impression and, being a reasonably sane person, I would contact Squaremouth for insurance again.

Thank you ... belated Happy New Year!

    Sincerely,
    Mr. Alan Simon

They refunded 75% of my ticket per the coverage. But not my miles, but to be fair it states in their policy that miles cannot be refunded. Paperwork had to contain specific things so it took a little back and forth until I got it right.

I've never had to make a claim, so can't rate that aspect of the travel insurance. I did have a question for customer service while I was traveling. It was easy to reach them, they provided a suggestion for medical care if needed. I ultimately didn't need to use the suggestion, but glad it was easy to reach someone for advise.

Fortunately I didn’t need to file a claim which is the real test. But customer service was good and the policy seemed fair and coverage what I wanted. An app would help if I had needed to access them while on my international trip. But the process of purchasing and clarifying policy and access straight forward.

Seven Corners policy: Trip Protection Choice

Suffered severe dislocation of ankle with a trimalleolar break requiring hospitalization and surgery. Seven Corners helped us with the filing process with the language barrier, the time zone differences and the foreign country processes differing from the USA. They worked diligently to help us thru a difficult and stressful sitiuation. They booked the return flight home with a nurse that handled the pick up to the airport thru 2 airports to get me from France to USA. He was professional and kind and explained every step of the way including explaining what would be needed to my family once I got to my home.
The experience was tramatic but was made tolerable by the excellant help/service provided by Seven Corners. Thank you to all of you!

Seven Corners policy: Trip Protection Basic

Inexplicably, what I claimed from SevenCorners for a cancelled flight without option for rebooking, was deemed a voluntary trip cancel, so not subject to full reimbursement. I only received 75% reimbursement. That is pretty ridiculous. It wasn’t a voluntary cancellation and i submitted all the documentation to show the airline cancelled the flight.

My traveling companion had to go home as she fell and was injured. But as it worked out it did not disrupt my trip financially. But it was great knowing that if she had needed more assistance, we both were covered by your trip insurance.
