Seven Corners policy: Trip Protection Basic

Purchasing a Seven Corners policy through SquareMouth was very simple. I contacted Seven Corners directly and they were extremely helpful and friendly. Fortunately, I did not need to file a claim so I have no idea if the insurance itself would have been satisfactory. I encourage policy buyers to very carefully review the coverage of any and all underwriters you may be considering. Remember, policies are written for the insurers benefit. Every word, every definition matters. Try to imagine what may go wrong - like a completely unexpected, unusual medical emergency for instance. Will the policy cover expenses for a person traveling with you to stay with you or if traveling alone pay for someone to join you. Not all do. It's only through past experience that I now look for that particular benefit. There is a limit, understandably, to what some will cover. Some have such narrow rules they don't pay at all. Lost or damaged luggage, trip delay, interruption, yeah a pain in the neck but not as difficult to manage as a medical emergency in a foreign country. Where are you traveling to and what could possibly go wrong. None of us expect to actually need the insurance but things happen. I do believe Seven Corners would have come through - to the limits of the benefits had a claim been filed.

Easy to review various coverages available. And, after initial purchase it was also easy to make some slight date changes to the policy. good customer service.

Seven Corners policy: Trip Protection Basic

I really like Seven Corners because of its responsive customer service department when I need to make changes to my original policy, such as when I wanted to increase the amount of my coverage. Only that required was a quick phone call, where I was connected to a knowledgeable representative who was able to answer my question. More importantly, I found Seven Corners to have unusual flexibility in crafting coverage options. Most carriers require customers to insure 100% of the non-refundable charges in order to qualify for cancel for any reason coverage, whereas Seven Corners allows customers to decide how much of its non-refundable charges to insure. That allows customers to keep their premiums somewhat lower when the client is willing to risk losing some of its non-refundable payments. I found only one other insurer among the many who offered CAR coverage that allowed this, and Seven Corners was less expensive. And, of course, kudos to the Squaremouth customer service team that was able to answer my questions on this nuanced CAR question and identify these alternative providers who fit my needs.

Seven Corners policy: Trip Protection Basic

I bought a basic travel insurance policy, primarily for the emergency medical coverage. My trip home was delayed and I had to spend a night in a hotel. The policy covered that; the claim process was straightforward and communication was courteous and prompt.

The only bothersome thing was that the claim submission site was asking me to waive my HIPAA medical data privacy rights, but my claim wasn't medical. Fortunately this wasn't actually required. Otherwise, everything went smoothly and I received the reimbursement for my expenses as promised.

Seven Corners policy: Trip Protection Basic

Our flight from was delayed. We missed our connection. As a result we missed our hotel reservation in the city of our destination. 7 Corners asked us for proof which we supplied. Then they asked for additional proof which we supplied. And then they told us that the hotel stay is not covered. They must have known after our original claim that it is not covered. Why continue the charade? I give them 1 star.
