Thanks! This was very easy.
Price and reviews were the main reasons why I went with Seven Corners. I will definitely consider them for future travel.
I had two claims. One was for a minor trip interruption. I now understand the interruption was not significant, per the terms of the policy. However, had I pressed on, it is very possible a rescue would have been needed. Too bad the minor charge was not considered in that light.
The second claim was for COVID related interruption. While I do understand that the terms of the policy state that I needed a diagnosis prior to incurring expenses related to leaving the trail and isolating, there was no way to do that as I was in the back country and did not have access to a COVID test. Once again, I made a good decision to evacuate, not move forward and cause a more serious situation.
I do understand the company was interpreting their rules but I actually saved them money!
Finally, the way they handled proof of COVID and relentlessly requiring more documentation around it was very frustrating. I feel it was designed to try to "tire" me out so I would just go away...
I will not use this company again. And I will think long and hard about buying expensive trip insurance.
I ended up not submitting the claim.
As i was filling out the claim, I realized I didn't have grounds for a claim.
I called to ask them to correct my name on the policy because of a typing error. They did but it apparently did not make it to this automated message. My name is Dennis not Dewnnis.
I am still waiting to hear from Seven Corners after 10 days from filing a claim.
I have used them before and will again.
They gave me a very nice and detailed explanation of what to expect if I needed their assistance (pre-departure), including a website that Seven Corners partners with showing which clinics, hospitals and/or doctors that take direct payment (very important!). Glad that I didn't need to use them (my daughter and I witnessed an accident...a car hitting a traveler in Switzerland! Hopefully they had traveler's insurance!).
I needed the policy to reflect a greater number of countries to be visited than was allowed for entry in the online application. I made an inquiry and the documents were updated and revised immediately.
I am thankful that I didn't need the insurance, but grateful that I had it, just in case.
My only complaint was that I did have great trouble communicating with the 24/7 assistance- during a Sunday and then Labor day. I spoke with the emergency medical person- office closed.
