My wife and I travel several months of the year. We have probably spent over $20,000 with Squaremouth buying travel insurance policies. Our basic expectation is that these policies will logically cover losses incurred on any of our trips. I don't read all 20+ pages of each policy certificate and even if I did, it's hard to envision every potential issue we may encounter. We have trusted that these provide logical and reasonable coverage. We have made a few modest claims over the years, but nothing significant.
This was an unusual claim for us, a volcano eruption near Borneo had closed down all Borneo airports and our flight was cancelled from Singapore to Kutching Borneo. The airline rescheduled us for 2 days later and we stayed in an airport hotel in Singapore for 2 extra days. They were unsure when and if airports would reopen anytime soon. Seven Corners, the insurance carrier reviewed the claim in a timely manor. They asked for more documentation, which I immediately provided. They transferred a partial settlement into our bank account before we even got the 2 letters. They split the claim into 2 claims, 1 they approved and the other they denied (($134.40). I was expecting that the 2 days we missed in Kutching, Borneo as part of our tour package would have been reimbursed. We reduced the potential loss by contacting our tour organizer and informing her of our 2 day late arrival and she was able to move all the activities on the 2 days me missed into later days. Our loss, itemized by her was 2 days lodging we paid for and did not receive. Reasonably and logically I expect this to be covered, only to my dismay, find out technically it was not covered under interruption or delay. I suspect that all policies are like this and shame on the carriers for not providing such basic coverage vs trying to avoid any and all payouts.
Sincerely,
Ron

A good inexpensive travel plan. I did not feel gouged due to my age.
It was good to know that I had insurance in case of an emergency. Thank you!
I chose Seven Corners travel insurance in my recent international trip . I had an accident while on this trip that required medical treatment at a clinic. I was properly treated and returned to my home country. After I got settled at home I filed a claim with Seven Corners to compensate me for the money I spent being at the medical clinic in-country. I submitted all the receipts and travel documents required by Seven Corners. About 4 weeks later, I received a check from Seven Corners to cover my out of pocket medical expenses. I was very pleased to experience a quick response in my situation. from Seven Corners. Well done
I contacted the representative regarding a dental recommendation. She was excellent in providing names and other of providers in Asia.
I was told to expect a claims form when we arrived home...it's been a week since I called with a report of an accident and ER visit.
Seven Corners ultimately paid all of my medical expenses and I was not required to pay in advance and be reimbursed. My claim was for an ER visit and subsequent surgery. The hospital in Australia was able to file directly with them after I provided claim information and provided the number for a Seven Corner advisor to discuss. While it took a few weeks to finalize all of the payments, it was relatively painless on my part. The only reason the rating isn't 5 stars is due to my initial discussions with the advisors (during the night in the US). I would advise calling during business hours in the US if at all possible. The advisors that I spoke with during business hours were very knowledgeable and helpful.
Taking a long time to process claim after all documentation submitted. Trip was never taken due to health issue
Appreciated the clear, simple formatting
I cannot give enough praise to Seven Corners' response and support when my husband died unexpectedly during out Caribbean cruise. They worked with the ship's medical team to determine the best way to handle his remains. Then they partnered with the cruise line's shoreside staff to arrange for and to pay directly for transporting his body from the ship to the country's medical examiner and then to a very nice funeral home in Ft. Lauderdale for cremation, and to have his cremains shipped to me .... all without my having to do a thing beyond sign some papers. They followed up with me after I arrived home to see how I was doing and even sent flowers to express their condolences. In addition, they reimbursed me for the onboard medical bills promptly. Seven Corners eased the burdens of my heartbreaking situation, and I intend to buy trip insurance from them again.
