Tin Leg customers praise the provider’s customer service, especially when making changes to their coverage or trip details. However, some have expressed frustration with the claims process, particularly regarding the amount of documentation required.
We did pre-trip research and decided that Tin Leg Gold was the best option for our month-long overseas trip. A rep answered the few questions we had -- she was friendly and knowledgeable. Signing up was easy and hassle-free. We got copies of our policy details and overview information. Fortunately, we didn't need to file a claim, so we have no experience in dealing with Tin Leg's Claims Department. But with a long international trip that was very active with hiking, walking, etc., and knowing that we are now in our early 70's, we had peace of mind knowing that we had good coverage in addition to our Medicare Supplemental Plan (that is grandfathered and gives us $50K of overseas medical coverage). We wanted more than $50K for medical coverage on this trip, and Tin Leg Gold provided that and much more for us. Related to but separate from this, we purchased a 5-year MedJet Horizon medical evacuation plan in 2022 that also provides peace of mind on our long trips. We feel we had the best of all worlds with Tin Leg Gold, MedJet Horizon, and our Medicare supplemental plan for our trip.
I have used Squaremouth Ins. Several times. I find it cheaper than other travel insurance. I have made claims and received my money quickly. The persons on the phone are always very helpful and you don’t have to be on hold very long.
The instructions for accompanying documentation aren't clear that you require identification for each person included in a claim, not just the identification of the person submitting the claim. Clarifying this on the Claim Document Checklist on the online Tin Leg Claim Form would solve that issue, and not having to reach out to the claimant to obtain additional identification would speed processing. Otherwise, the claim process was easy and quick.
I fell whilst on holiday in Mexico & broke my hip, had to have a total hip replacement. My partner interacted with tin leg once, & everything seemed to be great. I signed a form & the hospital said that they have dealt with TIN Leg before & were a great company. I have purchased the same policy for my trip to UK, hoping wont need to use it. This was our first experience with travel insurance. Now that we're older and health concerns can foil the best-laid plans, we thought it worth looking into. The process was easy and it was far more affordable than we expected. We'll be sure to consider it again, particularly for our overseas trips. We (thankfully) didn't need to file a claim so I can't speak to the quality of the claims process.
There was a lot of required documentation for the claim, but fortunately it was easy to submit it electronically. Overall the claims process went smoothly, though the communication was a little thin coming back from the company.
