Tin Leg customers praise the provider’s customer service, especially when making changes to their coverage or trip details. However, some have expressed frustration with the claims process, particularly regarding the amount of documentation required.
I was injured, and called customer service to ask what I would need to do for medical care since I was in a foreign country. over the course of an hour, I was transferred three times to representatives who didn’t know how to assist me. By the time I was given the go ahead to find an emergency room, it was late into the night. I gave up and never went. My husband is a nurse and I am an ex-EMT so we splinted my hand and set it. I found it very discouraging to call your customer service and them not know how to answer the simple question: I’m hurt, how do I receive medical care?
First appointment by telephone is 4 weeks from my initial claim
The site is easy to use and if you have a question you can call their number and quickly get an answer.
It's nice and easy to buy insurance, you pay and believe that you are protected and don't need to worry about travel problems... until you file a claim.
It is one thing to send $$$ to insurance, quite another to get $$$ from them.
TinLeg adjuster went out of her way not to keep their part of the contract. She interpreted "will happen", i.e. future tense, as "already happened", i.e. past tense. I'm not sure if that was on purpose or it was her English language shortcomings.
That made the whole claim process unnecessary painful, not exactly what I expected when I paid premium.
In the end I was reimbursed in full, but only after delay and threat to escalate to Squaremouth resolution process.
The bottom line is that if I'll decide that need travel insurance for my next trips(?) I'll definitely will buy it through Squaremouth.
When reporting my claim she was very nice & compassionate. Very helpful.
The purchase process was straightforward. I was easily able to find the coverage I needed for this trip. Unfortunately, about a month before departure I was diagnosed with a condition requiring surgery. The condition was a recurrence of a previous problem. I had purchased the policy within the time frame that included cover for pre-existing conditions. My claim was processed promptly and courteously. All communication was clear, as were the requirements for documentation. I received a check for my lost non-refundable costs about two weeks after I submitted the last piece of documentation. Excellent experience all around.
Filing a claim online was easy. I was careful to keep receipts and the emails that backed up my claim. Tin Leg has been prompt in responding.

It took six weeks to resolve our claim, despite sending in the requested documents in a timely matter. They kept asking for more documents despite it being clear that our flight was delayed.
I am still awaiting a response from Tin Leg for a claim I advised them of for my trip in February. Their lack of response is nacceptable.
I called to revise my coverage. The person I spoke with wad very helpful, efficient, and friendly.
Since the claims department was closed, the customer service was not able to give me 100% information if my claim was covered under the policy.
