Tin Leg was amazing. My husband became very ill and was hospitalized a few days before the start of our trip. I contacted Tin Leg customer service and explained my husband was critically ill. I said I was in no position to deal with anything, but wanted to let them know I would be filing a claim in the future. They were very compassionate and said all was good and to get back to them when the time was good. When I was able to talk, I was asked a few questions in the interview, asked to email a few receipts, and a few hours later I received an email that my check had been sent. I will definitely be using Tin Leg when we are able to rebook.

24hr service was most helpful and reassuring, presenting me with options and medical addresses in the event my condition would not resolve itself while on travel in Spain.

Our trip to Budapest was predicated on an 84K rowing regatta on the Danube. My husband and six others from his local US rowing club were excited to participate, but we wanted to be certain that we had insurance coverage for a trip including an athletic event. Not all policies cover such events and it was not entirely clear which sports were covered. We were please with the policy we eventually purchased and were fortunate not to have to file a claim for anything during our trip. Unfortunately one of the rowers from the club experienced a blood clot (likely due to the long flight) and had to withdraw. He had no travel insurance and bore the cost for the ER, hospital stay and medicine out of pocket. He was able to fly home days later without delay, but it could have been very expensive to have to delay his return. We will always purchase travel insurance and just consider it a cost of traveling free of worry about unplanned events.

I have initiated a claim and am speaking to a representative tomorrow. My experience with the claim is yet to be determined

Purchasing the initial policy online was simple. Had to call TinLeg as we added cost to the trip in order to increase the policy amount. Customer service was excellent and had no problems changing the policy amount. However, it would be easier if those changes could have been done online as well.
