Tin Leg customers praise the provider’s customer service, especially when making changes to their coverage or trip details. However, some have expressed frustration with the claims process, particularly regarding the amount of documentation required.
I understand that the industry must be under an unimaginable amount of stress at the moment. We are trying to be patient. The times listed by the both tin leg and the administrator (Broadspire) are underestimated. When we first filed our claim it took well over a week to hear from Broadspire. We then filed our claim a week ago and were told we would hear back in 2-3 business days but have yet to hear anything.
They have been very helpful.
The process to be updated on my claim has been very slow and there has been little communication. Very frustrated.
Because of Covid-19 the experience has been challenging. I assume the volume of claims has extended the turn around time but I’m hopeful that the process will go smoothly once the TinLeg group responsible for processing the claim makes contact
The rates were good for what I wanted which was really just medical coverage
Out of the USA. I had one question which was easily resolved, before my purchase, with a phone call
I cannot comment if if is really good or not because,
thankfully, I did not make any claims.
Very friendly professional and efficient experience. Rep I worked with was informative and very helpful.
I have not heard back
While the buying and claims request processes were smooth, there were definitely things that I wish I had looked at prior to departure and felt were slightly misleading in the purchasing process. I paid extra in order to have "trip interruption due to unforeseen events" and "claims related to COVID-19" covered. Had my trip been cancelled before I left, I believe I would have been covered and recouped the losses. However, I had the misfortune of being 24 hours into my trip when the Moroccan government shut down the borders and my tour was cancelled due to COVID-19. This was now classified as a trip interruption, and when I went to file my claim I learned that only the only non-health related "unforeseen events" covered included inclement weather, natural disasters, terrorist attacks, or mechanical breakdowns of airline carriers or airline strikes. Even though I paid extra for COVID-19 protection, I learned it only would have kicked in if I had gotten sick or tested positive. I felt like this was misleading when I was purchasing, but I do admit that it was in the fine print. Please beware when purchasing these policies. My mistake resulted in what was supposed to be a $2000 trip becoming a $5000 complete loss once I paid for last-minute tickets home. I hopefully will read the fine print better next time I purchase a policy, but this experience has put me off ever trusting this company again.
My trip was canceled and I was outside the window for a refund in travel insurance. Insurance was not utilized.
Buying policy was easy.
Contacting customer service was easy.
Have interview set for early February (slightly disappointed that it is taking a month but...)
We'll see how I feel after completing the claim process.
