Tin Leg customers praise the provider’s customer service, especially when making changes to their coverage or trip details. However, some have expressed frustration with the claims process, particularly regarding the amount of documentation required.
Tin Leg was great to work with. Prompt and pleasant service! Highly recommended.
Tin leg representative stated that I would receive a paper copy of the policy through the mail. As we were preparing to leave, I realized this had never arrived. We spent part of the last day in the US downloading the information, including IF cards and contact info. This will certainly later when we decide on insurance for our next trip.
Please accept our apology for the misunderstanding. All our confirmations are provided via email, unless a mailed copy is specifically requested. We reviewed our records and unfortunately, we don’t show a request was made to send a hard copy to your home address, however we realize there could have been a misunderstanding during your purchase regarding how your confirmation would be sent to you.
Typically, we recommend that you save the Emergency Assistance phone numbers in your cell phone, or store this with your other travel documentation, in case you need to contact us during your trip. As soon as you call us, we can locate your policy and view your coverage, so we can advise you on the benefits of your policy. Some travelers prefer to have a copy of their policy certificate at hand, however, this is a multi-page document and not required while traveling.
We apologize again for the misunderstanding regarding how you would receive your policy documentation. We appreciate your feedback and the opportunity to review our procedures to ensure we explain this process more clearly in the future.

At first I was a bit anxious about filing a claim, but when I called Squaremouth the Customer Service Rep volunteered to help me out. The initial process required 5 minutes and it was almost finished. A couple of days later I spoke with a representative of the insurance company and explained the circumstances surrounding the occurence. I still had to provide photos of my ruined suitcase and documentation of my journey. About 3 weeks later I received a check in the mail to cover the damages. I would like to thank Squaremouth and Tin Leg for exemplary service.
Easy to get
Unfortunately, I had to cancel my trip but had paid a substantial amount toward it. Tin Leg was extremely prompt with sending me information on how to submit a claim. Once submitted, I received my refund very quickly. I will definitely use Tin Leg and SquareMouth again!
Claim was for trip cancellation.
Tin Leg is my “go to” insurance site for all my travels. I feel like I’m getting the best policy possible.
Spoke with Tim Leg about the possibility of having to cancel our trip due to a health issue. She walked me through the steps if I would need to file a claim. Fortunately my husband was cleared to travel and we didn’t need to cancel. She was very helpful and informative.
I’m very unhappy with the company! My bags were delayed for over 24 hrs, and although the policy says I should get 200$ for baggage delay, Tin Leg just informed me that they will only pay me whatever I spent with toiletries etc and have a receipt for! They say they will pay me about 55$ only, in dollars.
This is unacceptable! The policy is clear and says 200$ period but the company is interpreting “up to” 200$. I’ll never take insurance from them again.
I understand that your bags were delayed for over 24 hours which triggered the Baggage Delay benefit in your policy. I looked into your claim further and saw that you submitted claim documentation for $55 and a check for that full amount was mailed to you on May 8, 2018.
Travel insurance is designed to provide reimbursement for out of pocket expenses that you incur due to a covered reason within the policy. This is the case among all travel insurance providers and policies. Your policy does include Baggage Delay coverage with a cap of $200, however, the policy states that it will provide reimbursement for clothing, toiletries and other essential items and requires receipts for any purchases over $25.
Your claim has been closed since you have already received payment. However, if you have additional receipts that you would like to provide for the reimbursement of additional costs you incurred during your baggage delay, we’d be delighted to reopen your claim.
If you would like to submit additional receipts or if you have any further questions, please contact us at 844-240-1233. Our Claims Team is available weekdays from 9am to 5pm ET.
Their claims people were not good at returning emails and calls. But they did handle everything efficiently.
