Tin Leg customers praise the provider’s customer service, especially when making changes to their coverage or trip details. However, some have expressed frustration with the claims process, particularly regarding the amount of documentation required.
I will not be recommending or purchasing Tin Leg policies again. I had a straightforward flight delay of over 6 hours due to weather and my claim was denied. Prior to making alternate arrangements to return home I called Tin Leg to verify what the policy covered and was told that it would be covered under Trip Delay if the delay was longer than 6 hours. I submitted all the documentation (screenshots, weather screenshots, letter from Delta, etc ) and was told that it wasn't covered due to Delta saying it was a an air traffic control delay. That was due to not being able to fly planes through thunderstorms! They referenced other areas of the policy that wouldn't be relevant as all of them would require more than a 6 hour delay. They were referencing trip interruption insurance. I'm expecting this matter to be resolved as this is the whole point of travel insurance!
I did have a medical claim on this trip as well and that was approved correctly.

Finally got resolution but they made it very difficult and initially denied my claim for a straightforward travel delay due to severe weather. I had to appeal to get it resolved. Make sure you save all documentation as they will ask for every piece of it and even more!
Thank you for your feedback. Since your review was posted, we have received additional documentation to support this claim. We are happy to inform you that your trip delay claim has been approved. If you have any further questions, please reach out to your claim adjuster via email, and we’ll arrange a call to go over the details and answer any questions you have.
I appreciate the affordable coverage!
Excellent customer service. Quality products for a fair price. Thanks.
First time user and there be a second for next trip, not sure when.
I found the language between the different policies somewhat confusing. I called customer service for help and they explained the policies to me. I didn’t have to make a claim, but will use them again in the future.
Very reasonably priced medical-only insurance policy gave us peace of mind we'd be covered while traveling abroad.

Very pleased with Tin Cup. I appreciate talking to a person rather than doing everything on line. I decided to add two more days to my trip after purchasing the insurance. The agent was very helpful in tacking on two more days for insurance coverage. This is my second experience with Tin Cup and I will continue to use them for future travel.
It was a small claim that was paid with minimal amount of paperwork. It took about 2 weeks for payment to be made with a direct deposit to our bank account.
A treating physicians statement was requested when it should not have been required in my situation. It was not a requirement in the policy documentation and this was a very small dollar claim. I would understand if I had claimed medical expenses for reimbursement but my trip was delayed one day because of a severe UTI that improved with antibiotics. I had already provided the visit summary with the diagnosis. I pointed out to Tin Leg the difficulty in finding the exact attending physician since this was urgent care where the medical personnel rotate from other locations and also the burden on a doctor to complete the form in a situation that should not have required it.
My claim was paid and I don't know if the doctor had sent in the form. I'm appreciative, but I will not be insuring lower dollar trips with Tin Leg, in the future, because it isn't worth the hassle.
