Tin Leg customers praise the provider’s customer service, especially when making changes to their coverage or trip details. However, some have expressed frustration with the claims process, particularly regarding the amount of documentation required.
I believe that the only useful reviews of insurance companies are from customers who actually had to file claims. Their experiences of dealing with the claim process and how easy or hard it was to resolve the claim is what is important. I gave Tin Leg a 5 star review of the pre-trip experience but readers should not use that as any indication as to whether Tin Leg is a good insurance company since I did not submit a claim.
Answered questions before we departed. Had a great trip and had no need to contact them again.
I'm still waiting to hear back about my claim. I got home on June 16 from my trip and filed my claim shortly after that. I'm surprised I'm still waiting to hear from someone. Is this normal?
Adjusted the policy 2 times to cover additional time and expense associated with the trip. Both evolutions were easy and customer service was great.
I broke my foot less than half-way through my trip in Europe and needed to go home. I contacted Tin Leg a few times for guidance and they were fantastic!
Having Squaremouth/Tin Leg gives me peace of mind when I travel. I appreciate the helpful and knowledgeable customer service representatives who answered my questions.
Absolutely terrible to deal with. My claim should have been open and shut—I canceled a trip after falling and hurting my left knee, necessitating orthopedic surgery. Instead, a full month since I filed the claim, I have received no indication TL will pay my clearly incurred, clearly non-refundable trip costs. (On top of that—although it doesn’t impact my claim this time—TL is taking the position that pre-existing conditions are not covered for this trip, which I believe to be wrong and possibly in bad faith.) Since I don’t believe TL’s unresponsiveness is due to lack of competence, I am starting to look for legal counsel, based on my conviction they will attempt to deny my claim or at the very least short-change me on it. This doesn’t reflect well on Squaremouth either.

Never again.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are sorry to hear about the frustrating experience you had with the claim process.
I have discussed your claim with our claim team to gather more information regarding your claim. I understand that your claim is still in process and we are currently reviewing all documents submitted. It appears as though no further medical documents are needed. Rest assured, pre-existing medical conditions are not a factor for your claim.
I understand your frustration with needing to submit multiple documents to support your claim. Due to insurance regulations, certain documentation is required. We will do our best to expedite the process.
Your claim adjuster is available to assist with any questions in the meantime. We appreciate your patience and hope to make the process smoother for you moving forward.
Happy with your product.
I did not like how much ithe insurance cost me. But I was glad, I had the insurance if needed.
Travel insurance reviews are always 5 stars until one needs to file a claim. Mine was for trip delay where my flight was cancelled twice - clearly covered in the policy. It still took 2 months and 10 email requests for more and more information, but I was finally paid. Not a great experience but better than the one other time i had to file a claim with a different company many years ago - hence the 3 stars.
