So far the claims process has been very straight forward. I will have to see how it turns out.
Review Updated: 12/01/2025
After speaking with a claims representative, I was able to upload all the necessary documents very quickly. I was notified the claim was being reviewed. Within the stated time frame for a response I was notified my claim was accepted and a check arrived in a timely manner.
Thank you for taking the time to post and review us on Squaremouth. We’re glad to hear that you found our claim process very straight forward, your customer experience is very important to us at Travelex!
Having the claim line opened to us was both appreciated and necessary. Travelex was helpful. However, when we arrived home and submitted our comprehensive claim packet—sent on July 25, 2025—Zurich dragged out the process unnecessarily. On September 3, 2025, all required documents were obtained from the air carrier, which was outside our control, and sent to Zurich.
On September 10, 2025, they requested proof of payment to verify our travel dates. I had already submitted the original receipts over a month earlier, along with the credit card statement (which, as everyone knows, doesn’t reflect the exact transaction date). At that point, it was clear the process was taking too long, and this additional request was redundant. Nevertheless, I responded the same day with the requested information.
After many emails and calls, I finally received a claim letter on October 10, 2025. They approved everything except the baggage claim, stating it didn’t cover the point of arrival. However, my entire claim packet—including original receipts and the credit card statement—clearly showed purchases made at the delayed airport, not our final destination. I had to submit an appeal, even though it was plainly evident that our purchases were not made at our home airport. Ultimately, they approved the appeal.
The extended timeline, lack of communication, and the number of follow-up questions—despite how thorough my original claim packet was—made this a frustrating experience. I work in cargo claims in the trucking industry, and we resolve far more complex claims in less than half the time. This process could have been handled much better. I did not feel prioritized and was left feeling like I had been pushed to the back of the line.

We have contacted Zurich and have been advised that your initial claim was received on July 30, 2025, and they requested additional information on August 15, 2025. Zurich did receive communication back from you with some meal receipts and then on September 3, 2025, they received the incident report. Zurich advised the new information to support the purchase date was received on September 10, 2025.
We appreciate your feedback regarding the claim being delayed in processing. Zurich has advised us there was high claim volumes at this time. Zurich sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience the delay in processing your claim has caused.
Regarding payment, Zurich issued payment on October 10, 2025, for the travel delay benefits. They received your appeal email on October 10th regarding your baggage delay claim, and the additional payment was issued four days later, on October 14, 2025.
We acknowledge your frustrations, and we hope this reply helps you understand the reason for the delay. Should you have any additional questions you may contact Travelex Insurance at TISReviews@TravelexInsurance.com.

The claims process was straightforward, well explained by the CSR, and facilitated by a well-designed online claim portal. Once submitted the claim was reviewed and processed within a couple of weeks. My claim went through following the initial submission with no further information required.
Easy process and good price.
Thank you for taking the time to post on Squaremouth. We hope your journey was wonderful!

Travelex Insurance

Travelex offers many different policies with different carriers, so it is easy to find a policy that suits your needs. Unfortunately, I had to cancel our trip and file a claim. The claims process was handled timely and professionally, and without hassle.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are glad to hear you chose a Travelex Insurance plan for your trip, also glad to hear about your positive claims experience and your reimbursement being received promptly!
I still waiting for my compensation for fly cancellations.
After finishing my claim will be more accurate review.

Zurich informed us that your claim is pending assessment and was received on September 10, 2025. They also advised at a quick glance there appears to be no supporting documentation submitted to assess your claim and they will be requesting the additional information from you.

I have filed a claim on August 23, 2025. I did not realize there was 24 hour assistance available. I only saw that calls could be made 8am-8pm Mon-Fri which did us very little good. We needed help on a Saturday evening. The beginning of this trip was a nightmare and ended up costing and additional $2300 in new airfare, hotel, meals and lost night of our trip. We didn't even submit all our additional expenses. At this point we have not had any response from Travelex. The only thing we are aware of is the claim is still showing under review. My wife also had her cell phone stolen, but fortunately that was covered by our credit card. That claim was approved and very speedy. This is the 1st time we have ever had to make a claim and at this point I have not been satisfied with the pace or lack of communication. We have provided a thorough summary, all receipts and communication but have not heard anything yet.
Review Updated: 10/13/2025
The only reason I agreed I was satisfied with the handling of the claim was because I received a reimbursement for the majority of the trip, but it was painful. My wife and I had a delayed flight because of weather, and this caused us to miss our primary flight to Africa. We had to purchase a replacement flight, a hotel night was needed and meals plus we miss a day of our trip. It was late at night and there is no real way to contact they outside of their East coast office hours.
Travelex needed a letter from the airline the flight was delayed. We provided the letter, but Travelex said it was not specific enough. The airline disagreed and said their letter should be sufficient. I had to go back again to Travelex and inform them the letter was all they would receive from the airline. I had to share a screen shot of the airline app showing the delay and spent significant time trying to find a newspaper article that covered the delay which affected most of the nation. I submitted that as well.
After significant back and forth we were reimbursed for the additional hotel night, meals and the additional tickets we needed to purchase because of the missed flight due to the delay. We did not receive reimbursement for the hotel night that was missed at our destination that was not refunded. It was a 3rd world country and trying to receive a letter from the hotel and all the challenges we had with Travelex did not seem to be worth the additional stress and aggravation for $170.
In the end we did receive almost all that we filed a claim for and we are thankful for that. We have never before needed to make use of travel insurance. We are thankful that we had it, but it should not have been so difficult.
Dear Mr. Bembnowski,
Thank you for reaching out to us on Squaremouth.com! Travelex Insurance Services (“Travelex Insurance”) makes every effort to review all concerns from our insureds.
Zurich American Insurance Company, (“Zurich”) is the underwriter and Zurich Travel Claims Administration is the claim administrator for the policy you purchased. Travelex Insurance does not make claim determinations.
We contacted Zurich on your behalf, and they have advised us that the examiner reviewed your travel delay and trip interruption claims yesterday and has issued payment for the travel delay expenses.
Unfortunately, they are unable to consider the Trip Interruption benefits (currently) as they require an incident report from the airline confirming the reason for the delay. Zurich also requires proof of a refund or no refund for the unused hotel.
It is important to remember that insurance is highly regulated, and all claims are determined based on the required documentation submitted and the policy details for the policy you purchased.
Should you require additional information or assistance, please contact Zurich by phone at 1-800-501-4781, Monday - Friday: 7:00 am-7:00pm CT, by email at support@zurichtravelclaims.com

No issues. Hope it works if I ever need to file a claim.
Everything went smoothly so I didn’t interact with Travelex agents during or after my trip.
