*The overall customer rating is the average of all reviews for the provider since they joined the marketplace.
Trawick customers appreciate the value for money offered by the policies and the ease of modifying them before a trip. However, some travelers report difficulty reaching customer service, particularly after filing a claim.
I was really disappointed that I had to go through an intermediary to have my claim addressed.
My first flight was cancelled and I was reimbursed for that one, and I was reimbursed for the last one by Frontier airlines, but the 3 flights in between I was not reimbursed for.
I couldn't get an email copy from frontier saying that the flight from Seattle to Denver was cancelled so that ended any chance of being reimbursed for the other 3 flights from Copa airlines.
Hence my dissatisfaction with your company and the process.
Sincerely,
Ron
Upon original submission Trawick asked for information that was either not needed, already provided, or not reasonable to provide. And that was after a rather lenghty delay. When I called to discuss the agent agreed with some of my comments and we modified the request to what was reasonable or already provided. Upon resubmission I did not hear anything for quite some time and then suddenly checks appeared in the mail to cover the claim. Really poor communication and initially, very poor claim review.
It was ****, I was transferred over and over before I was able to speak to the right person. I was not considered as how sick I was in Mexico. I gave evidence that I was very ill and wanted to get back to the US for proper treatment. I was given stupid commercial flights that no one in my condition could possibly make. I was told to just stay in Mexico to seek treatment but I was then in an area of Mexico that proper medical treatment was not available. The Inn owner where I was staying told me good diagnostic care was scare in that area .I feel very abandoned by this insurance company . I plan to file claims when I feel strong enough to go through all the forms. I feel I would have been in grave danger if I had stayed in Mexico. My friends and partner had to arrange car and plane transportation home for me at half the time that your company offered. I was sent to the emergency room by my primary care physician in the US as soon as I returned. Thanks goodness I was able to hold down some fluids because I was at the point that I had stopped being able to urinate and my kidneys were in danger. It's a good thing I was strong before I got so ill in Mexico or I would have never made it home. I was diagnosed with Salmonella and very ill from it but this diagnosis took days to get back in Mexico so I was on US soil by the time this report got back. I layed in bed for my 4 days vomiting and with severe diarrhea, missing my flight from Mexico City to La Paz Mexico. The hotel in Mexico City had no rooms to house us any longer so we boarded a plane with a short flight to La Paz, me wearing depends and being in wheelchair in the airport. This done because we still had hope that this may be severe case of traveler's diarrhea. The doctor I saw in Mexico City was hopeful of this. That did not end up being the case as once I got to LaPaz I was still sick and got sicker! I stayed in touch with the doctor from Mexico City and he suggested getting a stool sample to a lab which we did but the results would take 4 days. I sent you all the doctors note and he suggested I needed care and could not fly on a commercial flight. Your solution was to stay in Mexico where there was no competent care. You were NO HELP! My friends and partner had to make a plan, because you were no help!
Please avoid this insurance company. I travel frequently and get insurance every single time. This is the first time I've experienced this company and will never use them again. I had to change my travel dates with a 2 day difference. This was before my travel commenced and did not have any pending claim. They wanted to charge me almost $200 just for changing the date. I had to change travel dates before with different travel insurance companies with no issues and no additional charges. This is ridiculous. Instead of paying them almost $200, I just went ahead and purchased another travel insurance with comprehensive coverage and for less than the additional charge they were asking for. This is a sketchy company with no values to customer satisfaction.
The airlines resolved the issue so I didn’t have to file my claim.
Easy and Affordable Policy as well as Prompt and Responsive customer service.
The ability to make choices and decisions, and an easy policy purchase, could not have been better. The two reps I spoke with were both very knowledgeable, professional and helpful. However, and as I tell my State Farm agent on a routine basis, an insured NEVER knows what kind of insurance company, insurance agent or insurance coverage he/she has until, AND ONLY UNTIL, he/she has a claim. Since I did not have a claim, my comments and feedback are only partial-in-nature.
I have not heard anything yet about my claim
This claim was handled well, quickly and accurately because I had all the receipts, doctor letters, and credit card statements handy before I sent in the claim form so I only had to upload info once online.
Suggestions:
1. It's very stressful regarding getting the claim in super fast (as there is a short filing deadline), especially when you've just been in the hospital and even more when you don't yet have all the receipts for the claim. Suggestion - the ability to file an initial claim without all the details (even total amount) and SAVE it in order to get the timestamp of filing, and then once you have everything, click "SUBMIT".
2. Until then, you should email their support desk to let them know when you will be able to file. You only get one chance to send in the initial form, and if anything is missing, you either don't get reimbursed, or they will ask you for documentation eventually, delaying your claim check.
3. The submittal form could be improved with better FAQ / help on each section, especially if only part of the trip was booked via a travel agent. I had to speak to a live support agent instead. The support team is excellent and responsive via phone or email.
4. Would be handy if there was a way to see where the claim was in process via the web site cbpconnect. You can find out by calling Nationwide and they are quite responsive on the phone. But the cbpconnect site, when you select View All Claims, shows nothing and has the message "Please Note: New claims received by CBP will not be viewable on CBPConnect until processed." This isn't true as they still don't show even after processing.
We had a bad experience with a hotel due to extreme mechanical noise and had to leave three days early. We had to pay a second hotel for three nights. The first hotel won’t refund us even though they admitted fault but Trawick can’t help us so we’re not happy about that.
