Trawick customers appreciate the value for money offered by the policies and the ease of modifying them before a trip. However, some travelers report difficulty reaching customer service, particularly after filing a claim.
They were prompt in providing documents and answering questions through their OnCall International. In the immediacy of dealing with an emergency, it was hard to get forms filled out, sent back - especially dealing with language challenges. As it turned out, Delta Airlines made all the necessary arrangements for us, so we didn't need the travel assistance. However, we did have to pay out of pocket, and have sent in forms now for reimbursement through their claims company. I'm not sure how much Trawick itself actually does.
This is a copy of the pertinent portions of our claim cover letter sent to Nationwide. They rejected our claim because our flight was cancelled prior to the beginning of our trip:
RE: Policy No. 1308542
CLAIM #98377
Dear Agents:
Enclosed are the forms and documentation you requested in your email dated 02-08-2022.
On Feb. 05, 2022, we received notice from Silver Airways that our outbound flight from Jacksonville Florida to Fort Lauderdale, FL, on March 04 was cancelled. This was the first leg of our flight from Jacksonville to Key West. Upon arrival in Key West we are flying on Seaplane Adventures to the Dry Tortugas early on March 05 and back to Jacksonville on American Airlines that night. Our return flights on American Airlines are non-refundable. Because Silver Airways had no other outbound options for us, they agreed to refund the full cost of the outbound tickets from Jacksonville to Key West, which was $238.38.
If we were unable to fly to Key West in time to make our Seaplane flight, it would then be necessary to cancel the return American flight and we would have lost $377.20 for this flight and would have made a trip cancellation claim in this amount plus any other reservations that were non-refundable.
We preferred to salvage our travel plans and we made new reservations on American Airlines to fly from Jacksonville to Key West to salvage our seaplane flight. The cost of these outbound tickets was $477.20. We request payment of the difference between our new American Airlines outbound tickets ($477.20) and the original outbound ticket cost from Silver Airways ($238.38). This difference equals $238.82, the amount of our claim.
We tried to confirm that this approach was acceptable to you in our call to Trawick on February 8, 2022. Your agent said we had to submit a claim and you were receiving many claims due to air cancellations. We had to purchase new airline tickets immediately to ensure we obtained reservations and therefore proceeded in good faith of your approval.
I am delighted that we were able to get a full refund for the trip we missed. It encourages me to use Trawick International again as a travel insurer.
We submitted a claim by mail. How that claim gets resolved will further impact how I feel about my experience. I look forward to discussing and resolving the claim. Thx!
Stephanie with Trawick was awesome. She documented my flight interruption and was very professional and very pleased to help me. I would recommend Trawick 100 per cent.
I filed my claim. Their Website wouldn't let me log in with my policy number and information but I was able to submit my claim through email. I called a week later and they told me they had my information. It would be 60 days to process my claim I was told.
Wasn’t possible to get a representative on phone while abroad. Unable to register online from website.
I filed my claim with Trawick International on November 3, 2022. I received an automatic email response that said:
"Thank you for contacting our office.
We are currently experiencing an extremely high volume of claims. Claims are reviewed in order of receipt. To avoid delays, please review your claim documents to ensure all required documents have been submitted. If additional information is required in order to complete our review, we will contact you by email (or by mail if you chose not to receive electronic communications).
Claims Team"
As of Thursday, 11/10, (one week after the initial filing) I hadn't heard anything so I sent an email to the person who originally sent me the claim forms and as of today, Saturday, 11/12, I have not heard back from anyone at Trawick. I will be attempting to contact them again but, at this point, I am not happy at all with their service.

It took them almost 2 months to process my claim. They approved it and I have been reimbursed but I think it took too long.
This is a resend of previous response that may not have been sent.
My Claim #141846 was approved and paid in the amount of $433.43. Thank you. Regretfully this is not acceptable. My damage amount was for $1,863.44.
I purchased the Trawick insurance specifically as a hedge against hurricanes. While on my vacation a hurricane that was un-named on date of travel developed into Hurricane Irvan. Our resort evacuated all guests and mandated a shelter in place in Belize. As a result I incurred damages and costs.
This is a clear cut claim. I purchased the policy precisely to hedge against possible hurricane. The hurricane did in-fact develop. It met the insurance criterion. Yet the damages were not fully covered. Despite whatever fine print is in the contract this is not fair. I did not even recover the cost of my policy. I protest and appeal for a review by Squaremouth or Nationwide management that is concerned about customer satisfaction. Thank you for providing this avenue for appeal and feedback. I look forward to your favorable consideration.

Claim is still outstanding after 6 weeks. Trawick claims hurricane Ian has delayed claims processing and it may be 12 to 15 weeks from claim date. Seems excessive.

Claim was paid complete and fairly easily. There was some delay to get the check but insurance company was busy with hurricane season.
