Trawick customers appreciate the value for money offered by the policies and the ease of modifying them before a trip. However, some travelers report difficulty reaching customer service, particularly after filing a claim.
My husband came down with a viral bug less than 24 hours before the start of our trip. We got a doctor's statement that he should not travel for at least a day or 2. We were originally scheduled to leave Bend, OR early Saturday morning with a 5 hour layover in Seattle before continuing on to New Zealand on Saturday evening. I was able to rebook our flights, but the new flight from Seattle to Auckland left Seattle at 7 am on Monday. There is no flight from Bend to Seattle that early, so we had to fly to Seattle on Sunday evening and spend the night. I submitted the hotel bill in the amount of USD 128.66. This was denied.
Because of the delay, we missed the first 2 days of our planned stay in Auckland. According to our travel agent, the amount of the non-refundable activities for those 2 days was NZD $685. I submitted this to Trawick and it was also denied.
I have provided the required information the best I could, but still they have not processed the reimbursement. I am not happy the way they have been handling my claim. They made it so difficult.
The amount and specifics requested in connection with our claim have been excessive - well beyond what we have to provide for our medicare advantage plan.
We had to cancel our trip a couple of weeks before departure. I let Trawick know before the trip began. I was sent to Surego and asked to fill out the forms. The forms were too hard for me to do so my daughter helped me 3 different times. It took a few days to get the doctor to fill out the forms. One lady at Surego was very helpful when my daughter called.
We sent in the forms with all the green circles filled in and my daughter learned if something was missing we would hear soon. We submitted the forms May 5th and were told it would take a week or more to hear anything. I emailed Surego May 13th to see when I would hear something. I haven't heard anything yet but hoping I will soon.

The forms were very hard to fill out and it took longer to get the check than it should have. However, the people that we talked to on the phone were helpful.
This travel insurance policy was purchased to cover a cruise on Regent Seven Seas. Due to bad weather, our ship was unable to stop at a few ports of call where we had booked shore excursions. Shore excursions are listed as free options that passengers can elect to do. Our position was that nothing on a cruise is free and that we paid for those shore excursions in the total cost of the cruise.
Trawick denied our claim because they noted that the costs of shore excursions were not listed on the itemized booking. Trawick stated that "For Trip Interruption benefits to apply, a pre-payment or deposit must have been made for the shore excursions." We did make a pre-payment for them, but the related costs were not separately listed.
My wife and I feel that Trawick was not reasonable or fair in their assessment of our claim. In our opinion, they denied our claim on a technicality.
I was disappointed that it took 8 weeks for the claim to be processed but it was finally approved.
I had a claim under this policy and although it seemed like it took a long time to complete the claim process and receive a check, it was ultimately handled properly and professionally.
Bought Trawick travel insurance back in Sept. 2024. Took many months to hear back after filing a claim. Called many times and was told they are working on it. Filed a claim against this travel insurance company with my CC company. As of April 2025 still waiting to hear back from the travel insurance company. NOTE: SquareMouth was excellent in helping me in dealing with Trawick insurance company.
Just as a side note.........I just came back from another trip where I purchased travel insurance through SquareMouth using another travel insurance. This week I file a medical claim and 3 days later I received my reimbursement in my checking account. WOW that's the way insurance company's should work.
I have heard nothing from Trawick since I filed the claim via email. I don't even know if they received it. The "file a claim" button on the website does not work and the chat representative was of no help.
It has been a struggle with Trawick. I will never use them again. I have a $250 claim with lots of support documentation. It has been 3 1/2 months and they keep telling me that it is still being processed. It was supposed to be max 60 days. I have called them 3 times already. Now they’re telling me to wait 20 + business days. The only response I get is “I am sorry, Mam.”. Frustrating, they’re worthless. I will NEVER buy from them again.

I’m happy with Squaremouth for mediating our claim with Trawick. I’m not happy with Trawick as it took 4 months and several phone calls requesting status to get the claim approved.
