On February 24, 2022, Russia began an invasion of Ukraine in an escalation of the war that has been ongoing between the two countries. Squaremouth’s travel insurance providers share their official position statements explaining coverage for the situation.

We request travel insurance position statements from all of our providers. If you do not see a position statement from your travel insurance provider listed below, we recommend contacting them directly for information on your policy’s specific coverage.

Berkshire Hathaway

BHTP considers the conflict in Ukraine to be an act of war which is a general exclusion on our policies.

Cat 70

Coverages to which General Exclusions apply: The following exclusions apply to Trip Cancellation, Trip Interruption, Airline Ticket Change Fee, Missed Connection, Trip Delay, Accidental Death and Dismemberment, Emergency Accident and Emergency Sickness Medical Expense, Emergency Medical Evacuation and Medically Necessary Repatriation and Repatriation of Remains.

We will not pay for loss caused by or resulting from:

  • War, invasion, acts of foreign enemies, hostilities between nations (whether declared or not) or civil war

Generali

There is no coverage available as “declared or undeclared war, or any act of war” as well as “travel restrictions imposed for a certain area by governmental authority” are excluded under the plans.

GoReady

For GoReady’s Trip Cancellation, Choice, and Annual policies:

There is no coverage available as “declared or undeclared war, or any act of war” as well as “travel restrictions imposed for a certain area by governmental authority” are excluded under the plans.

For GoReady’s Pandemic Plus policy:

Seven Corners

Seven Corners encourages all travelers to review the USDOS travel alerts and warnings before planning a
trip and traveling abroad.

RoundTrip

War is listed as a general exclusion, which applies to all losses and all benefits provided by the plan. The
exclusion states: “We will not pay for any loss or expense caused, due to, arising or resulting from: war
or act of war, including invasion, acts of foreign enemies, hostilities between nations (whether declared
or undeclared), or civil war, except as the policy specifically provides otherwise.”
Coverage available for travelers could include Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) and Interruption for Any
Reason (IFAR).

Cancel for Any Reason: If a traveler wants the option to cancel their trip because of the war, they could
utilize CFAR. Their reason for canceling a trip could include, but is not limited to, fear of travel due to the
war. Travelers should review the plan document for their state of residence for the requirements to
purchase and make a CFAR claim.

Interruption for Any Reason: If a traveler wants the option to interrupt their trip because of the war,
they could utilize IFAR. Their reason for interrupting a trip could include, but is not limited to, fear of
travel due to the war. Travelers should review the plan document for their state of residence for the
requirements to purchase and make an IFAR claim.

Liaison Travel Medical

There is a general exclusion for war that eliminates coverage provided by medical benefits and most
other plan benefits if a loss is due to war, hostilities, or war-like operations. Travelers should review the
policy carefully, including the definition of war, hostilities, and war-like operation.

For Tin Leg’s Economy, Standard, Luxury, and Adventure policies:
