Squaremouth was very easy to get a policy through. I like going through them.
The wait was unexpectedly long to get a person on the phone.
When I finally did speak with a rep on the phone, I was told to expect information for a local dentist by email. It never came.
I ended up travelling home and received care there.
Policy purchase is fast and easy. Claims are slow and non responsive. We are repeatedly asked for standard information that was previously sent to the claims department with no specific response or payment.

I needed Squaremouth to expedite the processing of my small claim.
We took a cruise to four countries. Major of the ports of call were in Spain, so the policy only specified Spain (Squaremouth only allows one country to be selected, by the way). I contacted Axa to ensure the policy would cover incidents occurred in other countries as well. The representative was very courteous and informed me that it would cover the period worldwide. Although I expected it would since it was for a cruise, the reassurance did out me at ease.
The folks at AXA were very helpful during our emergency & did everything they could to help us get information from the hospital, despite the language problems, & to get us home, safely with a medical escort door to door. . They proved worthy of our confidence throughout our ordeal.

AXA was very helpful when my wife was in the hospital in Spain. They then provided transportation for my wife and myself from Spain with an accompanying doctor from door to door.
I found the claims process very easy and uncomplicated. My only complaint would be the length of time it took for them to reimburse my expenses. I sent in the claim on March 21st & didn't get the check from them until the beginning of September. This was a very difficult time for me as my wife passed away from her illness at the end of July. I understand that insurance companies can't consider people's circumstances but 6 months is just too long to wait for reimbursement. I certainly could have used the money for her funeral.
That being said, I was happy with them overall & bought a policy from them for my time in Spain this coming winter.
Five stars except for the length of the time it took to close the claim.
I called the AXA 24 hour Assistance line asking for help in locating a hospital in Palermo Italy during our trip because of an acute cardiac problem that I was having. The polite lady answered promptly and then put me on hold during which time I was able to enter an emergency room and had to hang up. She emailed me the response but unfortunately the hospital recommended did not provide 24 hour patient care available and so the information was really not useful as it was Sunday. Fortunately, I did not have a major cardiac event and I was able to get medical care on my own. The care was gratis so I did not have to file a claim.
I filed 2 claims, one for health and the other for travel. I have NOT received a claim number for either.

In response to questions from AXA I provided very much data to AXA.
However, AXA has not accepted simple facts such as dates and costs for my travel, dates and costs for my hospital stay, and a detailed list for hospital costs
