AXA customers frequently mention the provider’s efficient customer service, especially when it comes to making pre-departure adjustments to a policy. However, some customers have voiced that the claims process takes too long and lacks transparency.
Great customer service. Very helpful people who understand and explain what you are getting and help make the decision of what kind of policy you need.
cancelled policy before trip - purchased a different squaremouth policy
So far so good. They got the claim forms out to us quickly and gave us some hints on how to fill them out.
I reported to your representatives before the trip that I would not be traveling to DR Congo because they refused to process our team's visas nor return our payments/applications and passports. I have been working diligently since this notice was provided to me to call, email and fax information to the DR Congo Embassy in Washington DC and working through the local Congressman Lamar Smith to gain all our documents back and I have delayed completing a claim to you to see if his office is able to retrieve our legal documents and any of our materials shipped for workshops along with personal items since there was a limitation on what could be carried on the aircraft.
I was asked to give the Congressman's office a little bit long to try to make calls and work the system. I plan to reconnect again on Tuesday, July 5, to determine if anything was retrieved. The items I would make claim against are:
1. Lost ticket costs for not traveling on the date planned or future dates (we are told that it is not a good time to travel to DR Congo for various reasons...unsafe)
2. Lost payments for materials purchased, shipped and cannot be retrieved as they were mailed to a place for our pickup and we are not there to pick those items up nor have anyone on site who are able to retrieve them.
3. Books/materials purchased/shipped for the missions trip that cannot be retrieved.
4. Other
Thank you for this followup notice. Please advise if there is anything I must be sure to do when I file the claim. I will have receipts and a copy of my ticket response from the travel agent to attach to my claim, along with check(s) and receipts for purchases.
Happy July 4th!
Blessings,

They have a number that one is supposed to call when outside the US. I found it impossible to make collect calls from Fiji or Vanuatu when so much of the telecommunications is by cellular telephone.
I had left some medication at home and called them to get assistance. Several times I didn't get a return phone call when I said I would. I was able to take care of the situation myself.
I also had to use the Missed Connection portion of my policy. When I called I was trying to get an understanding of what the insurance would reimburse me for and what it didn't cover. The representative was unable to answer my question and wanted to get back to me within 24 hours - by which time I would have incurred the expenses and would be back in the US. I was very disappointed in the level of customer service and will think about using a different insurer next trip.
I couldn't recommend this company to someone else as I didn't feel "protected" while I was out of the country. I bought the policy for piece of mind which I didn't get. Luckily I am an experienced international traveler.
Fortunately we did not need to use the insurance but I am always glad to have it. I knew I would be able to count on you if needed.
Very good. No problem when I needed to extend the policy for one day due to itinerary changes
Called to file a claim but got no response ever since.
Although our trip was abbreviated somewhat due to flooding on the Seine and the ship could not return to Paris, Scenic Luxury Cruises provided excellent organizational service ensuring that we saw everything we were supposed to. They then bused us back to Paris, paid for our overnight stay at the Marriott Opera and also paid for dinner, breakfast and airport transfer. If they had not done all of that, we would have had to file a claim.
I had no actual contact w/ Squaremouth other than one phone call asking about cancellation options. The representative was very professional and explained all available options. We determined that we would proceed with the trip to France.
I updated my policies several times and had significant difficulty in communicating with AXA in these instances. Ultimately, the problems were solved but with great difficulty. I would not use AXA again. In past trips I did use a different Squaremouth approved insurance company and had a good experience.
