Detour customers highlight the provider’s efficient claims process, with some getting claims settled faster than expected. Other travelers, however, report frustrations at the amount of supporting documentation requested when submitting a claim.
Our trip was cancelled due to an eye problem emergency. The documentation required was straightforward, with one exception. I needed to provide two different bank statements but the process does not allow you to do that in a single field. I had to use the Other field to attach the second statement.
This did not cause any issues and the claim was processed promptly.
The reason I filed the claim was because my husband was in the hospital and was told he was not permitted to leave the local area. In the meantime shortly after I filed, he was rushed 911; to the hospital again .he was there for 9 days and then sent to a rehab facility. After 8 days at the rehab center, he was rushed yet again, 911, to another hospital and is awaiting an operation. I doubt we will ever see SANDALS again.
Awaiting results of claim - trip cancelled due to medical issue. Airline fully refunded purchases. Yacht and hotel were claimed as they were not refunded.
It gave me peace of mind and provided better coverage than the airline did.
Good rate and coverage. Knowledgeable representative.
Your customer service members are very polite and helpful.
Too early to evaluate. Claim is in process.
We had a very good experience with Detour Insurance. We experienced a 1-day flight delay on our return home from our European River Cruise. As the delay was not the fault of the airline, therefore the airline was not responsible for any incurred costs (extra night hotel, meals) by us.
I submitted email proof of the delay and receipts from the hotel for the extra night.
I received a check for payment in full within 2 weeks of filing my claim.
Detour did not honor my claim because our flight was canceled and moved up by 3 days so their claim we were not insured. Dose not make sense:
- We did not control the flight change. That was the airlines canceling our original flight.
- We were gone 17 days with no clothing, wheel chair or luggage.
- Why not prorate our the days we were not insured because of the cancellation of our flight ?
The purchase process was easy and the pricing was reasonable.
