    I had the wrong dates on my policy prior to my departure and customer service corrected it immediately .

    My trip got cancelled by the organizer due to the very poor air quality from forest fires. They were not sure if we would get a refund. My trip date was past and I tried to contact Detour Adventure Travel Protection to see if there was a date by which I needed to file a claim. Unable to reach them by phone so I sent an email. NEVER got a responce. In the end, organizer did refund the cost of the event. For my next trip I will not purchase from Detour or a company associated with Nationwide. Fortunately I could cancel my hotel without cost and got a credit for my next plane trip. Sort of a waste of $94.42.

    Detour insurance handled our claim incredibly fast! A close family member fell ill just days before our trip was to embark. Our cruise and airfare was totally nonrefundable. We submitted all required forms online to Detour which is underwritten by Nationwide ins. and received full payment in 2 weeks! The cost of our insurance policy was unbelievably affordable. It paid for itself 50 times over. I would recommend Squaremouth.com travel insurance and particularly Detour to anybody planning a trip. Don't leave home without it!

    Very easy to obtain policy prior to trip. Great coverage! I had to speak to an associate prior to trip about canceling because of a family death. She was extremely helpful. I didn’t have to cancel in the end. Will definitely use this company in the future.

    The tour company cancelled the entire trip less than 48h prior to departure due to ship generator malfunction. I had bought economy flight tickets to the departure city and from the return city, figuring I had Detour insurance. But Detour told me nothing was covered because the tour company's mechanical problems weren't covered events. What?!?! That seems to be a fundamental reason why people get trip insurance. While the tour company gave us the choice of credit or refund, the commercial air flights weren't covered by either the airline or Detour. I'm deeply disappointed that such a reason, that had nothing to do with me, wasn't a covered reason for a claim. This is a gaping loophole that should be addressed by consumer protection insurance regulations.

    It was nice, they saw a shortfall in the amount of insurance I was buying for the trip and they sent me an email to clarify and asked it I wanted to cover the full amount.
