Very happy with our purchase
Purchasing travel insurance was very easy. We used this company because of a referral from fellow travelers. Fortunately we had no incidents. Trip went very smooth.
We were so pleased with ease of purchase and price we have purchased insurance from Squaremouth again for an upcoming trip in the fall.
It is almost six weeks and my claim has not been processed. I have called four times. I get good words but nothing happens. Very frustrating. The last time I submitted a claim with another travel insurance company I had a check within two weeks.
Very easy to purchase, and understand what coverage I'm getting. A change in destination was very easy to make over the phone with the John Hancock representative. Great customer service in that regard.
John Handcock is using a 3rd party company to process their claims. They have an on-line process and it sucks! You can't save your input, print it out or save a version for further editing/revision. It also times out. I have asked them to send a paper claim form via email/mail. Their site is very user unfriendly!
My wife died on the trip so had to access insurance to have her returned to the US. I paid all other expenses myself and will now submit them for reimbursement. Her medical care, initial transport to a local hospital and then transport from the point of entry in the US to the funeral home will all be submitted and hopefully I am not screwed over on payment as these are real costs and need the money to cover the bills. Then I have extra hotel costs, airfares, etc due to change in plans. I'm filing and hoping these are covered as well since they were certainly unplanned expenses as a result of my wife's death.
The jury is out on whether or not I get paid for costs I legitimately incurred but I'm hopeful
I contacted John Hancock to see of they would send me a paper copy of the policy, but apparently they don't do such a thing.
Friendly and helpful and provide me with everything I needed. I had a couple of questions and they were answered quickly and efficiently.
Did not have a claim on the insurance policy yet.
I've uploaded requested documents to their portal, only to receive an email the next day saying they haven't received the document. They are also requesting documentation that has nothing to do with my claim. Seems like they want to make the claim filing experience as painful as possible so that they claimant gives up.
