i was very pleased with the price and have recommended it to my daughter who will be taking a trip next year. I lost/left a wireless headset at a hotel and called customer service to see if I was covered. The customer service rep was very helpful and emailed me the claim form. I am in the process of waiting for a reply from the motel manager advising me of their policy that they are not responsible to return my property so I can process the claim.
Our original trip was cancelled. Nationwide allowed us to use the insurance for a different trip, which we are not taking until May 2019.
There has been NO resolution as of yet. In fact, there has been only one (quite negative) contact with a representative of Nationwide. She noted that we had canceled the trip because of a relative on our family-planned trip who was terminally ill. Although ALL other relatives who booked this trip have already received their reimbursement from their insurance carriers (provided through Squaremouth), the Nationwide representative demanded proof that that the Wolfsons had actually been booked on the cruise. I immediately supplied the documentation (although it seemed quite intrusive to request such documentation from a family dealing with the death of the person!) but HAVE HEARD NOTHING SINCE.
I sent an email to the Nationwide Customer Service as well. They have not responded either. I am shocked at the cavalier attitude of this insurance company and again request whatever intervention Squaremouth can provide. Customer service was very helpful in selecting a plan.
The initial claim process went as expected. We did not complete one form, so we resubmitted it and didn’t hear back from them for at least two weeks or more. I finally called and they said the claim had been processed and the check was in the mail. We did receive a full refund which was great but it would have been nice to have been kept in the loop and not wondering what was happening.
I was quite surprised by the lack of customer support - long time on hold to be told rather dismissively I just needed to file a claim when I returned home. I won't be using Nationwide again.
Also I did NOT interact with Nationwide pre-departure - so I was frustrated with this question, which is why it is one star
In general my experience was good, but I wanted a product that would work domestically and internationally for a year-old period, for periodic trips not gone the entire year. I guess you don't offer that.

I canceled this policy because, contrary to pre-purchase information, it did not cover pre-existing conditions.
Finding the correct policy for me was easy with the help of customer service. The price was very fair. I did not have to place a claim - luckily.
I would recommend Nationwide Mutual Insurance to anyone
